We're expecting our first little one in September and I'm wondering whether there are any locally based Mommy's groups or gatherings? I'm definitely going to take part in a few in Chandler but would love to develop a friendship base with new moms here in Maricopa. Any info anyone has would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

There are 4 local chapters of MOMS Club international as well as a few local playgroup type groups. Please PM me for more information regarding the MOMS Clubs.

it really depends on what you are looking for. There are the formal MOMS groups, that are pretty structured and cost money. And there are some informal just-meet-at-neighborhood-playground type groups in each neighborhood.

If you can't spot the loser, it might be you

The Maricopa MOMS club has been fantastic. When my wife and I had our first child, we went about 6 months before joining the MOMS club and that made a huge difference. If anything, we realized that all of the challenges we were facing were consistent with a lot of other families. I have also met a lot of other dads thru the club. There are family events, moms nights out, and even dads outings (basketball, poker, etc). The only cost has been the yearly dues (I believe a measly $15/yr) which covers newletters and the web site chat forum. Any other costs have been pay-for-yourself at various activities such as pottery, zoo fieldtrips, etc. One mom even had arts-and-crafts at her house for the dads and kids to make Mother's Day presents several months back. I am very appreciative of the club in that it helps my wife keep her sanity (and in turn, me keep mine) and has provided a good network of friends and resources for all of us.

Yes, the Moms club is great! The money that everyone keeps talking about is only $24/ YEAR. People talk about it like it's a gym membership or something. Your yearly dues pay for the Family/holiday parties that the Club throws for the members, newletters, and the forum which you can chat on, ask advice, get support, find out playgroup info, and so much more.
It really is worth it and the support you get from it is well worth it.

I'm a new mom and am also interested in meeting other moms in town. I feel kind of lonesome sometimes - just me and my 10 week old. My husband works crazy hours. I would like more info about the MOMS club, if possible.

Thanks,
