That's great you guys are setting up a walking group, losing those pregnancy pounds can be tough, especially without a good support network. I actually just wanted to clear up any misconceptions that might have come from a couple of the previous posts. "Stroller Strides" is the premier pre/postnatal workout program in the nation and we are lucky to have one here in Maricopa, run by Jodi Cox, as previously stated. It's a full body workout with power walking, strength training and cardio. We sing and play with the kids throughout class so they have a great time also. I'm not sure exactly where the information came from, but it does NOT cost $200. The price works out to just over $2/class for a monthly membership, which is $50. It's extremely reasonable, especially when you consider you would normally be paying a gym membership as well as childcare costs while you workout. Plus it's just more fun to be with a great group of moms and get the opportunity for socialization and support. I started going to classes when I first moved here; I had a new baby and didn't know anybody. I lost all my baby weight and then some, made great friends and was able to workout all the way through my second pregnancy which made for a much quicker and easier recovery. And I love that my toddler gets the chance to play with her friends everyday after class. I cannot say enough good things about the program, I LOVE IT! If your walking group doesn't work out you should give it a try, I bet you and your kiddos will love it too! |
