Also, if either of you are in need of a bassinet - I have one, only used it for 3 months for my son. It's yours if you want it. He's in a crib now So sad when they leave your room!!!

Alert | | i know, but because of my age it seemed important for me to deliver somewhere with a good NICO, although, of course, i hope and pray that is not necessary. but don't let my age fool ya, i am still way fun to hang out with! we too still need a bassinet, but since lex is delivering first, i'd say she gets dibs, but if you find you don't use it, lex, or end up with more than one, let me know. lee, i'd love to take you up on your offer of what is necessary and what is not. i went online yesterday cuz i just didn't feel like going shopping alone (not usually an issue for me) and it is truly overwhelming the amount of baby stuff available. as far as a raod trip, i work at 5:00, so i am free all day most days. what are your plans for tomorrow? i think i'm off tomorrow night, so wouldn't have to leave the store by 4:00 like i would on a work day.

Alert | who ever wants it - it's yours! I hate to sound so blunt, but how old are you?? lol. no, I'm not being serious, you don't have to answer that. Also, I have a bunch of onesies - totally essential.
I learned a lot from having a boy!!
Here are some essentials: -Tons of onesies - Pants -Socks -good bathtub -bouncy seat that lounges backwards OR the baby papasan is good -nail clippers -pasifiers -coffee -a tube of vaseline - if you get him circumsized (don't know how to spell) -alcohol swabs for imbillical cord -nursing pads

Alert | oops. I wasn't done!
If you nurse (I didn't with number two but tried with number one), get an ointment for the girls' cause it can be really painful!!!
If you choose to bottle feed, make sure you stick with the same brand of nipple - babies get confused really easy, and get tons of bottle brushes
Everything else is hype! When they are newborns they sleep all the time, usually when you don't want them too lol. So all the other stuff - toys and all that won't even be useful until they are like 3 months old If I may give some unwanted advise as well - don't let anyone tell you that you are spoiling your newborn by holding him too much! That makes me so sad to hear people say that!!! I held my son ALL THE TIME! I couldn't put him down. He is the happiest baby, he is so good, he sleeps well - all night long at 4 months.
My first born I was a wreck and tried to read too many books and thought I was spoiling her if I held her too much. I pay for it still - 5 years later. Do what your heart tells you not a book! I'm so excited for you guys! If you are interested in clothes, I have a bunch of newborn stuff.

Alert | | OH yes! We are done! Together my husband and I have 3 kids - we each had one from seperate relationships then we had one together. All three were oops babies - blessings that they are. I've learned that if you have a really good baby like our son is, the next one will be a terror!! I think three is enough. Sometimes I think I may want another one but I think I'd have to find another husband for that to happen. lol. I'll get some stuff together today and get in touch with you later and I can drop it off or whatever.

Don't mean to butt into your thread but I thought I'd let you know I delivered my son last summer at Banner Desert.
My due date was October 3rd but I delivered August 14 after spending a week there in bed. The NICU was AWESOME.. I can't say enough good things! Dr Alperin at Contemporary Care delivered my "Nick" (Dominick for long) but Dr Linnerson was the MD on call most of the days I was laying there. He was GREAT.. even sat and chatted with me about nothing much for about an hour one day.
The nurses there were great also. I've never met a more supportive bunch of people all around!
Good Luck to you!!

Alert | | not butting in at all. thank you for your words of encouragement. so far i adore dr. linnerson. and the fact that he has been delivering for 26 years fills me with confidence. to hear someone else say good things about him reinforces that i made a good decision. how are you and your nick doing now???

Alert | | I also don't mean to butt in, but wanted to say that if you do choose to nurse, use Bag Balm as the ointment!!! WONDERFUL....you do have to wash it off unlike Lansinoh, but it is amazing. Even if you don't nurse, it works great for diaper rashes as well. I HIGHLY recommend it....Good luck to you!

I love the name Nicholas. It's such a noble name! I delievered my first at banner and they are awesome! My second was at Mercy Gilbert and I do not recommend it! I don't know if it's because they are associated with catholic healthcare or what but I had a c section and they made me feel like a druggie whenever I asked for pain meds!!!! I had a hard time getting benadryl from them (little allergy to the spinal). But banner was there every 4 hours on the dot with percoset (c section first time around too) - I never had to ask. They totally helped me with the baby and tried there dangest to teach me to nurse and helped me shower and helped me walk and everything. At gilbert, I had to ask the nurse to help me with everything. they just stood there watching me in agony 'cause of course they wouldn't bring me meds before I had to walk. jerks sorry - I apparently have a lot of pent up anger towards them!

Sorry I was out of town for awhile. Wednesday I will be around Babysrus in Awatukee if you havent gone yet? Im sure you'll do fine delivering even if your older, are friend just delivered a girl at 40 and had no complications at all. This is my parents first grandchild so we've been pretty blessed so Im sure I will get everything at the baby shower but I guess everything helps. Are your parents in Arizona, or are you and your fiance (right?) doing it all on your own? | | Bye Bye Maricopa!
