i googled homemade babyfood and got a ton of websites.

my baby isn't ready for food yet, but I'm getting myself ready to make my own.
I will purchase what organic jarred baby food I can, but then i intend to make other "flavors" at home. my girls loved brocolli and avocado, which isn't commercially available in babyfood.

If you can't spot the loser, it might be you

I made my son's food when he was an infant and now make my daughter's.  So easy, cheaper and much healthier.  Check out www.wholesomebabyfood.com   This is a wealth of information.  The only commercially purchased food I give my infant is carrots due to the nitrate issue.  Other than that she eats squash, avacado, sweet potato, mango, pear, bananas, green beans, peas, and lentils.  Just steam, puree in a food processor and freeze in ice cube trays.  So easy!!!  If you have any questions feel free to PM me.  Good luck!!

when my daughter was young, i made her baby food. but the best piece of equipment was one of those one-handed mixers. i used that instead of a food processor and they have a few different attachments as well. it cut the prep time in half and was easy to clean. and you can make the food as smooth or chunky as you like, depending on how old the baby is.

I just thought i should let you know that i have read that there are certain baby food vegetables that you should never make yourself.  I too was interested and saw warnings about certain veggies like carrots and spinach.  apparently these veggies have been found to have high levels of nitrates that could be harmful to infants, therefore it is recommended that you should only buy these products already prepared because the baby food manufacturers know of this problem and will only accept veggies that have been tested and are within the normal nitrate safety levels.

Again im not sure which other veggies pose a problem, but i would certainly do some investigating before you make homemade baby food.

Good luck and happy blending.

I love you Chubbison !!
