Well we would like to get to know couples that have young kids to get together and have fun... I miss that about San Diego... we were all kind of the same age and have kids that were kind of the same age... so the Boys (Dad) will play pocker or tennis softball, and the ladies will get together and do some projects and the babies will be around us the moms playing... or the boys will stay with the kids while the moms will have some fun... so if someone interested... let's try to do that!

We are from San Diego too..

We have a 13 year old and a 6 month old.

Wife works nights .. so it's hard to get together with other people sometimes.

Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem.

I think that will be fun, since we are thinking about staying here for a while... BTW we are also new in town, we have 3 weeks here!.... Looking forward to get to know your family and hopefully others...

Welcome Monica and Josh! We're glad you're here.

The mom's club is a great way to meet other moms, too. I'm sure someone from the club will see this and tell you how to get in touch with them. There is another type of mom's club here in maricopa as well, I think a little less formal, that also gets together on a regular basis.

It's hard to move away from everything that you know, isn't it? We've been here a year and a half and it's much better than it was in the beginning. We've loved Arizona from the moment we've gotten here, but we had a harder time than we suspected we would have leaving our friends and family. It gets better!

Hi everyone. I was hesitating in responding b/c I think this might make things even more confusing...I'm a Monica, too This is the first time I've met so many people with our name in the same place! My husband's name is Andrew, and we have a 3-month-old baby girl named Kaylee. We've been out here in AZ for almost 3 years now and down here in "The MC," as my husband calls it, for about a year and half. We're both from the midwest (me--Chicago suburb, him--Minneapolis suburb), and ALL our family is back there; I definitely empathize with you guys who are missing family and friends! It was hard being away before, but now it's even harder with the baby since all her grandmas and grandpas are so far away! We are planning on staying here a while, though, and would love to get together!

perhaps we should start a monica's group? i have a question for both of you, based on your screen names. i have always hated being called mon or moni. i don't hate mona, but don't love it either. the only nickname i have ever liked is nikki, i had one friend in dallas who called me that, but it never caught on with my other friends, and since our baby to be will be named nicholas, i think that nickname has gone by the wayside forever now. i think that i hate those 2 nicknames because my father (usually referred to as the sperm donor) called me by both of them, and i have very unpleasant memories of my childhood with him. how do you both feel about those nicknames?

My husband and I have a 3-month-old boy and are also without family here in AZ. Then, with no neighbors across the way and absentee neighbors on both sides, it's been hard to make connections outside of work. I'm also a crocheter and my husband's into hockey and pool. It'd be kinda nice to have a "Parents' Club" here...

Hope to get to know you and your families, I think is important to have people that you can count on, and also have lasting memories... so let's plan something?<img src='http://www.85239.com/desktopmodules/ntforums/images/emoticons/smile.gif' height='20' width='20' border='0' title='Smile' align='absmiddle'>

fillie, next saturday morning at my house for crocheting/knitting, see the thread in the connections section for more info. my fiance also loves to play pool and i really stink at it. i'd probably be even worse now with the baby belly. maybe they can get together one of these nights and get rid of us shrews for a game or two.

I think we should have a Parent and Young Children Group. I mean at least we would all know how it is to be a parent to young children and know what we can do together! Movies and Bars are OUT unless we get babysitters I would love to get together and do some scrapbooking, I use to crochet, but not for awhile.

Hi Monica, we have a 2.5 year old son and a 6 week old daughter. Would love to get together too. Husband likes console games (all of them) and PC gaming too. I like scrapbooking, have some stuff for it, but like everyone I'm way behind. I get alot of mental blocks and it is alot more fun to scrapbook with friends! PM me if you would like to get the kids together.
