The vga adapter.Depending on what tv I get they have vga to dvi or hdmi.... im not too worried about it

Please share the Company and Model # of this adapter. I've never heard of a VGA-to-HDMI or VGA-to-DVI adapter that will channel 1080P video (especially for $15.00).

jhall, unless you have the new XBox 360 Elite, the only way you can output 1080P is through the VGA port. The new XBox 360 Elite has HDMI and is fully 1080P capable.

Actually, all new Premium & Core models of the Xbox 360 have HDMI outputs. They also have a newer (more quiet) model of DVD drive. I did a little system switcheroo at Best Buy a little while ago to take advantage of this.

Cool that you could get away with the switcheroo. No can do here. I Ebayed my first one when they were first released (and it has never given me any issues ), and my other premium was a new one I bought off Craigs List last year(new and $75 less than retail-also no issues). They both look fantastic on 1080I. I hooked up one using VGA to check out the 1080P and it did some odd stretching. May need to try that again with the software update they came out with last year. Interested to see how the HD-DVD looks on VGA also.

Looks like all Premiums built from July 2007 have HDMI, but not Core.

alanf,
How do you like the HD-DVD player for the 360? I just have an upscaling DVD player right now, but I'm considering getting the add-on. The only problem is the availability of HD-DVDs to rent. I like just being able to go to Blockbuster, but they only carry BD in-store. Do you buy or rent online?

Pretty awesome. I'm going to check out the 300 on my Samsung 67" tonight since it will accept the VGA. I've been watching in 1080i via component cables.
I rent from Blockbuster Online for my HD-DVDs. Takes awhile to receive them as I'm sure they are in high demand.

Fry's electronics has or had the Mitsubishi diamond star 65" 1080p on sale for 1899.00, I bought mine last month along with the stand and 5 year warranty. Those combined will put you over the 2K mark, however the TV only should keep you under. Not sure if they still have the thing on sale.

just google it. They also sell this stuff at frys.

I love my hd dvd player. The sound and picture are phenomenal, especially for the price! I think they now give you 5 free hd dvd and the universal remote for the hddvd player with the xbox360 and its only 179.99. I know netflix rents hddvds. I usually just buy them. Ill rent them on dvd, and if I liked the move then I buy the hd. Blockbuster is loosing a lot of business.

Note that you couldn't combine those two cables. The VGA to DVI cable is actually an analog VGA to analog DVI-I cable, which could not be combined with a DVI to HDMI (purely digital) cable. You'd need a VGA to HDMI converter, which is a powered box that does active conversion.

I see. I haven't used one yet so I wasn't sure. Those lil boxes are around $150 then. Hopefully they will come down.
