Alert | I would say Vista is not ready for prime time yet, I'm waiting for SP1 to upgrade everything.
Anyway I have XP Pro on two laptops and one desktop. I am testing Vista on a desktop at work. Also I have VMware Workstation on my laptop and Im trying a variety of OSes as virtual machines. IMO this is the best way to try out different OSes. | | Liberalism and capitalism address themselves to the cool, well-balanced mind. Alert | Wow I didnt know apple used magic hard drives that never have errors.
Apple bashing aside, now that VMware Fusion is out I might consider a Mac Book to replace my laptop. | | Liberalism and capitalism address themselves to the cool, well-balanced mind. Alert | I agree with waiting for Vista SP1, if you can. There are still a lot of driver issues and program issues. It is a good system, though. It seems closer to new versions of Mac OS when they come out. <img src='http://www.85239.com/desktopmodules/ntforums/images/emoticons/biggrin.gif' height='20' width='20' border='0' title='Big Grin' align='absmiddle'> (there is always something..) Overall, I have been happy with it, but I have not fully migrated my old XP systems to my Vista work systems yet.. | | Let X=X

Alert | | Vista is ready for the most part, the downside is depending on the hardware you run and some games that are a bit older you may have a problem then. I have been using Vista for some time and I have found very little outside of the games I really want to play that give the software any problem

Alert | No one here is using OS/390! :-)
I'm going to side with the people waiting for Vista SP1. I still remember how much better (and more stable) XP was once SP1 came out.

Alert | | Vista is definitely a lot better at this point than the same point when XP was out. I don't think we're going to see as much of an improvement with Vista SP1 as we did with XP SP1. | | Joined: Jul 2005

Alert | I am running Vista Ultimate edition on this computer. Beta tested it through all beta builds and have no compatibility issues. For some reason my Ultimate edition I got free from participating in the beta doesnt want to update though. According to microsoft my BETA gift which should have been a full version of the OS was just a temporary edition.
Personally my next computer will be of the MAC variety

Alert | Had Vista for awhile on my machines but got tired of it, went back to XP.
I'll wait for SP1 before attempting it again.
Cannot get Vista off the wife's computer though, she really likes the visual changes and the added desktop devices.
I dream of a Google OS...
