Alert | LOL. All pricing was set by the CFO, my pricing was slightly higher, but not much. Considering the company said they lost $1000 on a $16K job I guess pricing jobs higher actually worked out better for them as they didn't lose as much money.
Of course no matter how high I priced a job it didn't really stop my paycheck from bouncing, did it? | | Just the good ol' boys, Never meanin' no harm, Beats all you've ever saw, been in trouble with the law since the day they was born.

Alert | Oh, never had a computer problem. Just ready to throw one of my desktop computers out the window. Not such a huge problem just have to use the other computers in the house that has none of my work saved to them. I'm wanting to get a labtop because I like to sit on the couch and watch tv, but I like having my big desktop computer where I can see everything and its easier do do more stuff like powerpoints and excel and stuff like that. So.. I have decided that when I do get a new computer I'll get a labtop and then get a docking station with it. -Hope you and your family are all doing ok!

Alert | Well when you do decide to buy a laptop, look at Dell. We always get mail and emails giving us some great deals & rebates. The only other brand I can think of is Vaio. My sister has one and they are so nice, easy to use & great performance. My family and I are doing well, thank you for asking. | | A diamond with a flaw is worth more than a pebble without imperfections.

Alert | | Eh, had a Macbook. Trackpad was flaky, uneven in its response and the sharp edge of the case killed my wrists. Looks nice. Just need to be aware of these things if you look into it. | | Joined: Jul 2005

Alert | I use a Compaq, and beat the crap out of it. I use it hard - work & play. (I'm a programmer.) I've had it for over a year, and LOVE IT. No more desktop! Whoo! | | Formerly known as 'greytxracers' "My greyhound is smarter than your honor student"

Alert | Vista or XP. See, Macs don't currently need a virus scanner, but when they do, it just might be too late for you.
It really is all in how you use them. In my 15 years using Windows, I have never, ever, gotten a virus or installed a piece of malware or spyware. | | Joined: Jul 2005

I too prefer Vista or Xp. Vista with their gradual updates is getting a bit better.

The Holy Grail of the sicko virus/malware developers is to "Crack the Mac" so believe me, they are still trying but as you have indicated, have been unsuccessful. As to the "but when they do" caveat you slipped in about the future; That was a bit childish.

Holy Grail? I think not. The Mac userbase is not large enough for there to be widespread viruses developed. However it is a bit naive to think there are no security flaws with OS X. Why do you think Apple has to push updates out?
What I "slipped in" wasn't childish, it was the truth: If the Mac becomes as popular as Windows, you'll have enough ignorant users that will start installing malware, opening up random email attachments, etc. There is not anything special about OS X that prevents it from being infected. There simply isn't enough of a user base yet for it to become a prime target.
GOTP: Yes, I've had tracking cookies. I don't really consider those to be malware or spyware. I clear my cookies practically every day, so they can't do a whole lot to track me. | | Joined: Jul 2005

Alert | Proof that OS X can indeed be just as insecure as Windows:
Exploit Released for Unpatched Mac OS X Bug
Now, don't flame me for it being almost a year old. The point was to illustrate that there is nothing special about OS X, which this bug proves. | | Joined: Jul 2005

Alert | | Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that the Mac isn't a great OS, but don't be deluded into thinking it's inherently more secure than anything after XP SP2. Right now you've got security through obscurity, and that's not a great policy. | | Joined: Jul 2005
