Alert | Greetings,
My wife and I got a great deal on an HV-20 Hi-def camcorder and I need to purchase some good video editing software. The only one I ever used was Windows Movie Maker and wasn't overly impressed, although it was pretty simple.
I would like to keep it around $100 and hope for something I don't need to read a 1/2 inch manual to produce family friendly videos.

Alert | You are a bit limited - both money and ease of use. Check out Adobe Premiere Elements. There is a free trial version at adobe.com. It costs $99 but there is a learning curve. Most of the editing software works the same for the basics - it's the bells/whistles that take time to learn.

Alert | | Pinnacle Studio is the best. it's around 100 bucks. Very easy to use which means you don't have to be a pro to use it. I highly recommend it.

Alert | Yep, editing software takes time to really learn just what can be done. Windows Movie Maker is a little bit better than a joke. Extremely basic tool, and very limited.
I've dabbled with Ulead products and they're okay. Pinnacle, don't know about.
I use Adobe Premier full version for what little video stuff I do for multimedia work, but it's THE application used by the majority of pros, and isn't something for novice types at all. The other being Final Cut Pro.
