As far as speed goes, I’ve tested download speeds for both Transcend and Maricopa Broadband on many different sites (speedtest.net, dslreports.com, speedtest.cablerocket, net, downloading Windows XP SP2 from Microsoft web site, etc). Maricopa Broadband and Transcend seem to be pretty close, but Maricopa Broadband is generally faster on downloads across the board. I know 15 megabits is the ‘highest’ possible speed, so I was expecting slower average speeds. I’m not getting anywhere near the 15 megabit download speeds Transcend promises. My average Transcend download speed is around 3 to 4 megabits while Maricopa Broadband is around 5 to 6 megabits. Transcend upload speeds are VERY fast though – Usually around 2-3 megabits consistently.

Just out of curiosity, if you are a system admin why are you JUST now downloading XP SP2?

I don't see how this makes any sense that you HAVEN't made a final decision. Everything youa re saying is pointing to MBB being MUCH better and yet you still need to make a decision? 5-6MB down is the second best service in town and the best service is not even readily available (qwest ADSL). Seems to me like an easy choice.

He was probably wanting to download a large file to compare speeds.

You live in VRED right? Qwest offers ADSL to RED and VRED, which seems to be more stable and offers closer to their advertised speed. In other neighborhoods they offer VDSL (which has the technical ability to go faster than ADSL) but for some reason, it is less stable and slower than they advertise.
