Alert | | I need a utility/process to capture all or part of what's on my screen. I have a GPS map that I want to edit in Photoshop. Any ideas? | | Stupid should hurt!

Alert | you can just hit print screen, and then open up MS paint and paste it there....then edit with photo shop.
a non-free way to do it is with a really nice utility called snag it...just google it and you can find places to buy/download.
print screen and then pasting into MS paint works too tho. 8) | | "Sometimes I think you have to march right in and demand your rights, even if you don't know what your rights are, or who the person is you're talking to. Then on the way out, slam the door."

Alert | | I agree with Rabbit, use the Print Screen button to copy the entire desktop to your clipboard. If you then open Photoshop and select File --> New, it will automatically default the new canvas to the size of your picture, and then you just select Edit --> Paste to paste the picture in. If you want to copy just the active window rather than the entire screen, hold ALT and press Print Screen. Naturally, once you copy an image to the clipboard, you can paste it into Word, Excel, MSPaint, or anything else that can handle graphics.

Alert | | Print Screen usually does the trick, but if you need something more powerful, like the ability to capture something that is larger than your monitor, Snag-It is pretty good. | | Joined: Jul 2005

Alert | DD, Howies is freeware, but is pretty good. I've used it for 5 years. Howie promises no spyware and after 5 years I believe him.
My default setting is save as jpg in My Pictures, but I can easily and quickly change the path and format depending on type of image I'm capturing. It can capture your entire screen or just the active window.
Just food for thought.<img src='http://www.85239.com/desktopmodules/ntforums/images/emoticons/smile.gif' height='20' width='20' border='0' title='Smile' align='absmiddle'>
