I'm moving to 'Copa (Glennwilde) next month and am trying to get Qwest service set up. It looks like I need to select an ISP for the internet service though. What's everyone using? I believe MBB is the provider in my neighborhood but I assume/hope that I'm not tied to that.

You should have a choice of either Qwest DSL or a cable provider.

Actually depending where he lives qwest may not have either the vdsl product OR the adsl product available. There are two neighborhoods that still don't have that service active, though it should be soon.

FYI this according to QWEST themselves. I called to make sure.

They're telling me that unless I use their Windows Live service, which is not Mac compatible, I would need to select a 3rd party ISP.

Researching further it looks like I can go with Qwest.net as my ISP. w00t

??? why are they requiring you to have an ISP? Qwest itself IS an ISP. thats a bit weird.

Qwest offers you the choice of them as the ISP, but the default choice is MSN/Windows Live. Not weird at all.

Unless there was some critical change, Windows is not required. It only is if you want to use the integrated software Microsoft provides, but the router does the actual connection to the ISP. From there you plug into the router (or go wireless) and you're connected.

The whole ISP thing used to be just included as QWEST.net. but apparently recently they added the MSN windows live thing.

Makes perfect sense. Another way for them to make more money.
