Just thinking today of where my entertainment center was 5 years ago. 36 CRT with no surround. Now Im up to 56" Sammie DLP and in ceiling surround polk audio. I Just cant imagine how I enjoyed TV before. Funny thing is I will probably be saying hte same thing in another few years when I have a bigger TV and better system. I love technology<img src='http://www.85239.com/desktopmodules/ntforums/images/emoticons/smile.gif' height='20' width='20' border='0' title='Smile' align='absmiddle'> For those that upgraded to HD and surround could you imagine going back to the old?

Must be a guy thing....... But it does not involve politics!

Surround sound is great! So are the crystal clear HD TV's that are now available! I love how you can mount it on the wall and not have to worry abotu fingerprints all over it, or the space that an old Big Screen would have taken up!

Who's using me, what should we do? Because you can't be a pimp and a prostitute too. - White Stripes

My problem with most surround receivers is that they suck for normal music listening..

I have a fairly decent system, and tried a Denon 3806 (used as a pre-amp only, separate amp), and it was great for movies and stuff.. But when i just wanted to kick back and enjoy some CD's, it was crap.. I ended up swapping back to my Adcom pre-amp.. Not quite as good sounding for movies, but far far far better for music..

(FYI- The Denon is going to be for sale, once I find the manual for it.. If your interested, PM me.. Otherwise its ebay!)

I am still debating how I am going to do mine. Due to cost, I was not able to get the prewires for speaker cans in the ceiling when my house was built. I have vaulted ceilings, and I am debating how to handle the rear speakers.

I have not been a big fan of wireless, because typically they have not been as good as the standard wired speaker. However, I recently noticed Bose now has a wireless rear speaker. I trust Bose quality, but still have my reservations about a wireless speaker. Anyone used them that can relate any first hand experience? Or for that matter, any wireless speakers that I might be able to use instead of wired speakers.

There's a reason that Bose is the only speaker that advertises in non-audio magazines... Also note that when you preview Bose in a store, its always a separate area from other speakers, where you can not directly compare them.. They may sound nice in the store, but thats because they spec out the layout and other criteria.. Your home setup is unlikely to match that exactly.. Other speakers are better for the price...

I do agree on the wireless.. Wireless speakers have their own amps, and usually stink.. Not to mention in ceiling mounted speakers, the addition heat and such generated is probably a fire risk...

Definitive Technologies offers some very cost effective combo set ups. I'm running one now. For approx. 2k, you can blow up a very large living area. I couldn't be happier.
