Before you resort to buying new RAM, here is a test you can run to tell you conclusively if that is the problem:

Thanks Jason, I tried the ISO zip file for windows. None of my extrators will show the ISO file as visible so I cannot burn it to a CD. I tried WinZip and WinRAR. None of them can see the ISO. Any suggestions?

Are you running nero? here this is the one you need to dl

http://www.memtest.org/download/1.70/memtest86+-1.70.iso.zip

then use nero or dl a free iso burner then you boot your machine from cdrom and it will run through a series of tests

Yeah that is the one I am downloading. I guess this is where I am confused:

I must extract the contents of the file in order to burn them to a disc right? I cannot just burn the zip file to a disc and expect it to work. So when I extract the contents, the only visible file is the readme file. I know it mentions the iso is on the boot sector and may not be visible, but on their forum, those peole claim to be able to see it.

I think I am using the wrong extractor. I tried WinZip and WinRAR and cannot see the file.

Any ideas?

Try Power ISO or Magic ISO.

You don't have to extract the files. ISOs are images that are meant to be burned with disc burning software. If you have Nero, open Nero Burning ROM and from the "Recorder" menu, select "Burn Image". You can then select the image and Nero will burn the disc for you. If you don't have Nero, try the free version of DeepBurner software from here: www.deepburner.com

Yes, I didn't actually look at the site to see that it was a ZIP he was downloading. He does need to extract the ISO from the ZIP. I think he's trying to navigate INTO the ISO though, since he mentioned a read me file, which is all you'll see in the ISO.

Alcohol 120 will let you mount the ISO on a "ghost" drive or fake drive that is installed on the computer. Good way to run the ISO file.

Not such a good way. Memtest needs to be booted outside of Windows to be able to test your memory.

You should still be able to mount it with Alcohol 120 or the 2 that I listed above and then burn to a cd.
