Alert | | Ok so I switched to T-mobile and get 20 days to try them out- Cinguar/At&t said it was NO problem for me to get out of my contract due to, what the gal say "WHoa you have absolutly NO service in Maricopa!"- no charge for breaking our contract- we gave it the good ole college try. We chose T-mobile for the free phone (family plan) and the MyFave5. Verizon didnt offer that.So we will see!

Alert | We have Cingular and I can't get a signal ANYWHERE in my house. I can't even get a signal in my backyard. Sometimes I can get something standing in my driveway in the front yard, but it usually drops the call even if I am lucky enough to make one. We love by Pacana Park by Honeycutt and Porter.
We need to switch to a useful cell service. It sounds like Verizon is a favorite and works well, maybe Alltell too. Our contract is over with Cingular, we loved the roll-over minutes and also loved having Cingular in Los Angeles where the signal was really good. But, since moving to Maricopa it really is terrible!
Does anyone live in the Glennwilde area by Pacana Park...what provider do you use?

Alert | | Sprint PCS and Nextel work good in Maricopa as well. It isn't perfect, but either is Verizon. Sprint is also more afforadble and the night and weekend minutes start at 7pm.

Alert | | I'm not so sure about that. From my personal experience, I gave them two shots, and both times they seriously messed up the billing on my account. The second chance I gave them, they replaced my phone several times due to several issues. Each time they replaced my phone and fixed their billing errors, they renewed my contract without my permission and then did it again when they compensated me with free N&W at 7PM due to their screwups. FWIW, their first problem was just a few months into their second chance. They quit billing me for minutes for a total of (IIRC) 4 months. After I caught the error, they put all of the minutes on to one bill, sending me way over my limit. So they applied credits to even out the overage, but they renewed without permission. Then when I finally got a representative that recognized all of the illegal extensions, he entered into the notes that Sprint would honor the original contract end date, entered that he had his supervisor's approval and he gave me his ID. Two months later, there was no record of this note and they mysteriously couldn't locate him. To make matters worse, the way that the representatives had accounted for credits to correct billing issues and phone replacements caused the supervisor who couldn't locate this guy to threaten to start reversing credits. The final straw was when they sent me a new contract in January. They changed my contract such that the terms would only allow me to get out of my contract for free if the base rate of my plan changed, not any of rates associated with it, such as N&W, text messages, data rates, etc. I found this to be unacceptable and went around and around with them for hours trying to get them to release me from my contract. They refused, even though the contract I signed stated that any change that adversely affects me was grounds to get out ETF-free. Summary: Sprint illegally placed charges on my bill that were not incurred in the month they claimed, they illegally extended my contract several times without permission and they illegally refused to let me out of my contract without an ETF. And this was the business care department! I dealt with front line representatives, retentions and cancellation supervisors. Not the exception? I doubt it. My story is not a lone case either, just review sprintusers.com. | | Joined: Jul 2005

Alert | | I love Alltel. I'm way out in Tortosa and I get great reception in every room in my house. Sometimes a call will drop by M mountain, but that's maybe only happened 2 or 3 times. They give you a minute back though for every minute that is dropped and you get to pick your favorite numbers to call anyone on any network. My whole family is on Alltel and we get Mobile to Mobile minutes free as well as Mobile to Home free. We've been with them for years! I think at least 10 years. They are the only carrier we've been with so I have no one to compare them to, but I've never left cause I've never had a reason too.

Alert | | In general, AT&T and Verizon have the best overall coverage areas, but that doesn't mean that you will have the best coverage from either of them where you live. I have an AT&T G3 (LG CU500) phone that has great reception everywhere in Maricopa except Tortosa. My coverage is spotty out there. You need to make your decision based on what is important to you. Each provider has different calling plans and different coverage areas. I have used AT&T, Nextel, Sprint, and TMobile and I like AT&T the best for my purposes because they have very good nation wide coverage when I travel and good coverage where I spend most of my time. I also like the fact that mobile to mobile in network calls are always free minutes. Also, your phone may have more to do with how many dropped calls you have than your provider does. Many phones, including the Moto RAZR are notorious for poor call reception, but get good overall ratings because they have good accessories. Check out CNET.com once you decide on a provider to see which phones have the best ratings for call reception. They have both user and professional ratings for every phone imaginable.

Alert | I used to have T-Mobile and it worked great--EXCEPT inside my home in Maricopa. I literally had to walk outside to the street in front of my home to get reception. I switched to Verizon and it works GREAT everywhere except in front of M-Mountain where it drops religiously coming and going from Maricopa. I also get some sporadic dropping when I drive under the power lines. Kimberly

Alert | A few days ago I began to indicate a much higher signal strength inside the house on my iPhone with AT&T. 3/5-4/5 bars where before I was showing 1/5. Did AT&T activate a new tower or boost the power output on the old tower by the High School? celltech, know anything about this? | | <=== Galaxies In Collision

Alert | | Alltel is the only provider that has a tower in Maricopa. With Alltel, you will have pretty much have full service anywhere in Maricopa, even indoors.

The facts where everyone with Verizon, Sprint, AT&T and T-mobile phones get signal from their own carrier. That would not be possible unless those carriers had a cell tower here. | | Joined: Jul 2005

Alert | | I work for alltel. We are the only ones that have a tower in Maricopa itself. I never said we are the only ones that get signal. There are other towers around just not in the city itself.

Come on, there is one by the post office and one by the high school that I can see from Fry's parking lot alone. | | <=== Galaxies In Collision
