Every phone I have had dropped calls at that one spot by M mountain. Both Verizon and Cingular. It always happens in the same exact spot.</div>
My Sprint and Nextel phones never drop calls by the M.

Alert | Actually, I surveyed that cell site about Oh 8 months ago for Cingular to see if they COULD place antennas there. I was under the impression from the site manager that they had opted for another location.
At that time the tower was only Alltel. Therefore I stand corrected.

Altell just co-located on that site within the last year. The others have been there longer, especially Nextel.

Alert | | There isn't one carrier that is perfect everywhere. My advise is to take advantage of the trials that Sprint and Verizon(not sure who else does it) where you can use the phone for a month. If it doesn't work, return it and there is no charge.

Alert | | Actually you are responsible for charges just not for airtime. So any data usage etc you pay for. Just an FYI

Alert | | Thanks for the clarification. I'm on the technical side of the business so rate plans, etf's etc.. are not something I am up to speed on. Now cell sites and RF, that I am up to speed.

Alert | | I have Verizon and love it. I never have a problem in Maricopa with reception. I go up North around mountains, and once I am actually in a city/town don't have a problem getting signal. I go in huge brick buildings and still don't have a problem getting signal. I know a couple people who have different carriers and they usually don't have signal when we go up north or in some buildings. Just my two cents.

Alert | Verizon sounds good and all, but I also have one other thing to consider...
When our contract is up, I'm going to be getting a "work phone" that is cleared for personal use. Ir's basically free for me, and it's Sprint/Nextel. I know T-Mobile and Altell have their own versions of "My Faves" but I didn't see anything like that on Verizon's site.
The majority of our calls are too each other, so we would need a carrier that has an option for unlimited calls to another number outside that carrier. So far, it looks like my best bet is T-Mobile.

Alert | I've had Verizon since the 90's, only it was called "AirTouch" back then. Customer Service is pretty good. As a matter of fact, I believe Consumer Reports ranks them number 1. Call quality has alway been good in all the places I've lived, Sacramento, Newport Beach & Arizona. The only thing that sucks is their selection of phones. Also, they diasble features so they can charge you for their own "Verizon" versions. Personally, I am thinking about getting an iphone, but worried about AT&T's signal strength in Maricopa.
Good luck! | | | |

Alert | good guy, be a better guy and don't make incorrect statements. My iPhone works on ATT/Cingular in the NW part of RED inside my house as well as out.
Copa Newbee, PM me your phone number and general house location. I will drive there and call you from the iPhone. Make the location one where you can view it from your house so you know I don't cheat. I'm the bald guy. That way you will have facts and not bad data from others. | | <=== Galaxies In Collision

Alert | azreplant, Do you work for AT&T. If you don't, then apparently the service is better now than when my wife and I left AT&T in October of last year.
We moved to a rental in Cobblestone Farms in August, 2005 while our house in the Villages was being built. We lived there for 9 months and during this time the AT&T (Cingular) customer service people in their Ahwatukee store allowed us to try just about every cell phone in their store to no avail. But they were unable to get the company to let us out of our contracts.
We moved to our new home in the Villages in May, 2006 and our phones still wouldn't work unless we were outside and then it was one dropped call after another.
In October, 2006, our AT&T contracts were up and we switched to T-Mobile. My, what a wonderful difference. We now can make calls in any room of our house and we've had only 2 dropped calls in 10 months. Our phones work great throughout the valley, even around M mountain. We do not have a land line, so we have to have a cell service provider that is reliable.

Alert | Cactus Rob wrote the following innuendo laced missive: "azreplant, Do you work for AT&T. If you don't, then apparently the service is better now than when my wife and I left AT&T in October of last year. . . . . . . . . "
Never worked for them or Cingular, but if I did would you assume my statements false? Do you have trust issues in your life? Why would I offer Copa Newbe what I did if I was lying? Sorry you had cell trouble in the past, maybe your hands were to sweaty or dirty(wink). I've been a customer of AT&T for six years now with the last 1 1/2 of that in NW RED. Your happy with T-M , I'm happy with iPhone; Let's leave it at that.

Alert | | All I can say azreplant is im glad that there is one person in red that gets good service but I live off of vintage my mother lives off of van loo and many people that i work with in all parts of rancho and none of us get a good signal in red now up on 347 yes its a good signal but in red i have to go outside stand on a boulder thats in the back corner of my yard and then half the time ill get out. I would bet as I am a betting man that if you ask 100 cingular/att users in red if they are happy with the service in red 85% would not be, I did my own of the 12 people i know here in red with cingular/att and including you to make 13 12 out of the 13 could not wait for there contract to be up to switch. I must admit to you however I had cingular for a few years and it was good service back east and other parts of phoenix it just sucks in red. If it didnt I would be right along with you and would have been the first in line to pick up the I phone That is a great phone but all the features in the world dont meen anything if you cant get a signal
