The wife and I have been stuck with Cingular/AT&T for the past 2 years. Our contract will be ending in October, and i was wondering what people's impressions were of other carriers.

I'm not so much interested in the different plans as I am in signal strength, clarity, dropped calls, coverage, and customer service.

So, bring on the opinions, because I know everyone has something to say about their cell carriers!

We have used Verizon for almost four years now, the only issues we have had are with some minor equipment problems but nothing to complain about in regards to the network.

Actually the M mountain thing depends on which phone you have.

My Motorola Q has YET to drop a call. and my LG previously never dropped it, but my wifes chocolate does quite often.

I've used Verizon for years and I find that while up north(Payson/Pinetop areas) or driving to CA I have a signal while others do not.

Even out riding qauds South of Show Low I used my Blackberry to lookup the Christmas resturant and make reservations for later that night and we were several miles past BFE.

I do drop calls heading up 347 at the power lines from time to time, but that is the only dead area I have found around here. I even get Verison's EVDO data speed from my house, Honeycut and Porter location.

T-Mobile ranks right up there with the very best in my opinion. My wife and I live in the villages and our cell phones work great in every room of our home and everywhere we go.

I have had Verizon even when they were GTE. Never had any major problems.

A *228 update will do absolutely nothing for dropped calls. There is something wrong with your phone, and if it is still under warranty, a Verizon store can look at it.

Stay away from Sprint if you live in Rancho or Province. Absolutely no signal. It works everywhere els. T-mobile does great for me

Pati and I have T-Mobile for our personal phones and I have Verizon for my business phone. Both are great as far as signal strength, limited dropped calls (virtually none) and I almost always have a signal (sometimes I lose it by M Mountain with T-Mobile but never with Verizon). Verizon wins hands down with their customer service though. Oh, and my Verizon phone gets a signal in Rocky Point and I can hook up my Verizon phone to On Star in our vehicle if I want.

Sprint and Qwest suck donkey balls, IMO.

Just the good ol' boys,
Never meanin' no harm,
Beats all you've ever saw, been in trouble with the law since the day they was born.

Straight'nin' the curve,
Flat'nin' the hills.
Someday the moutain might get 'em, but the law never will.

Makin' their way,
The only way they know how,
That's just a little bit more than the law will allow.

Just good ol' boys,
Wouldn't change if they could,
Fightin' the system like a true modern day Robin Hood.

I have Sprint and Nextel. Both are good, however there are some areas of RED that aren't too hot.

I have verizon and always drop calls at M mountain. I live on the back side of RED and no matter who you have the service is terrible. I now have to call into work on my off days and need to figure out if I want to install a land line or do the VoIP.

Every phone I have had dropped calls at that one spot by M mountain. Both Verizon and Cingular. It always happens in the same exact spot.

Tower behind RED is actually a weather station I believe. There is one tower by the high school but it is alltel and their service out here is still terrible.

The tower in RED by Global water is for Orbital's off air antennas.

The tower by the high school has many carriers to include......

Nextel, Altell, AT&T and T-Mobile.

Did you really think all those antennas were for Altell?
