Man, I hate to use the word cox and coming in the same sentence, but I heard a rumor that they were coming to Maricopa. Has anyone else heard such a rumor? If it is true, I feel really sorry for Orbitel and Maricopa Broadband...

I would like to see that, but it would be hard for Cox to compete knowing that Orbitell has us locked in for basic cable.

The only way I see Cox coming in is if they're buying out either Maricopa Broadband or Orbitel... or both.

It's happened before. We had a podunk cable company in Wilsonville, Oregon and could not get around them, until Comcast bought them out.

GlenWilde does as well.

Cox would have to do a lot of infrastructue to even think about coming here.  They would have to buy someone out instead.

I think Cox would be better, than the lousy cable choices we have out here.

Hopefully this rumor will become reality, soon.

They also would need a permit to business here.  That hasn't happened yet.

In speeking with a Cox "official" (?) a year ago he said they can come out but for it to be profitable for them the service area has to have a population i excess of 50,000

I work for Cox and there is no plans on them coming out to Maricopa. Now you never know what could happen the in future such as Cox purchasing Cable America out in the East and Southeast Valley (Queen Creek- Johnson Ranch area).

I heard that Cox would never come to Maricopa because they would have to start up all new lines here. I guess they had thought about it many years ago but didnt do it because they could not get the lines across Indian owned property. They are not going want to build a whole satelite office just to serve Maricopa.
