Alert | When asked about the "Banana Split Drink/Shake" being advertised on TV, the little blond WHITE girl (that is for Marni) kept saying 'Huh?" "I don't know what you"re talking about" "We don't have it" "What is it?" etc, etc, etc. We advised her it was show in the current commercial running on TV. (Maybe poor employee training as she was not aware they offered such a thing) The attitude started there, instead of trying to figure out WHAT the customer wanted, the customer was made to feel as if the item didn't exist, and we were stupid for even bothering her to ask for a "non-existant" drink, instead of her acuually trying to THINK! "hummm... Do we have anything that might fit the description?" (Perhaps trying to help a customer wasn't as much fun for her as chatting.) Or, were we being "scolded" (in a round about sort of way) for not knowing the title "Banana Spliit Blast"? Any way, we asked to speak with the manager, But he sent the aformentioned young man out, instead of coming out himself. It escalated from there, the implication form the young man being the same implication of the young lady, Stupid people! "You don't even know the right name." Shame on me for expecting them to actually think. I asked the young man twice to send out the manager, and I was told "he's too busy to talk to you." WHAAAATTTT????????? I responded that I might have contact Sonic Corporate about what was happening here. He said it was “no sweat” if we complained to the corporate office, and it “wouldn't hurt him” if we reported it! He refused to give us his name! Then this young man yanked off his name tag so he could not be identified.
Would that be tollerated in most customer service positions???
Hope that answers the question.

Alert | You're funny, Slinky. Yep. That's pretty poor customer service. A simple, "I don't know the drink you're referring to. Let me go ask someone," would have been a better choice on that girl's part. You should definitely let corporate know. Customer service aside, the employees need to be properly trained on what items they serve, especially promotional ones.
We've never had poor customer service there, but they ruined my Banana Cream Pie Shake 3 times too many, have downsized our fries even though we paid for the "Sonic-sized" one, and have served burgers that had no business coming out of their store. We haven't been back, but we've never held them accountable either. Perhaps we should have.

Why must you point out that he was black?
As a means of identification?

Alert | This is really to bad. Normally Sonic is my favorite fast food joint, but the 2 times I have gone I have not been impressed with the quality of the food. Both times where through the drive through so I can't really complain about the service so to speak. Jack n the Box on the other hand has had excellent service and great food. I guess that is why Jack's drive through line is always busy, and I rarely see people at Sonic. Hopefully When McD's comes to town they will hire a good managment staff and train their people better.

Alert | I don't understand the reason for identification in the thread. Sure if you were robbed you would say, "white, black, yellow, red... but the color of the individual didn't need to be pointed out for the story.

I think people are making more of it than what is necessary. Had I written the post, I probably would not have made any description at all regardless. But also think about this; She was not able to give the name of the employee to put special emphasis on what an out right moron this guy was and to warn others about this person's lack of customer servce skills and just plain rudeness. So giving a description was the next best thing. Whether or not that was her intention I am not sure, but that is how I took it. I am not Black, so I may not have much of a right to put this out, but sometimes this oversensitivity to race on such small of an issue as this ,does nothing to stregthen racial divides. And oddly enough, it is rarely a Black or a hispanic person that questions these non issue comments, but another white person. That is just from my expereince.

Fair enough. I was just curious that is all. I hear people do it all of the time - "He's Black, He's White, He's Indian. I was just curious and asked the question. I wasn't trying to call anyone a racist. I wasn't trying to out anybody. I wasn't trying to be rude. It was just meant to be a question of why having to describe someones color when telling a story.
Yes, I am white.
However at the same time if I had the persons name I wouldn't name the person in the post either.
So we differ and that is that. I was just curious as to why people do it. I should have known I would been jumped on. Although I can't really say I care. The OP messaged me privately telling me to "back off." I apologized and sometimes you just can't right stuff to anybody.
I didn't mean to cause more of a divide between races or individuals. | | Vote NO on Prop 102

On 7/20/08 at 8:30 in the evening we had a real problem at the Sonic in Maricopa AZ has rude employees, the manager will not come out to talk to the guests, then when asked for his name, one of the employees yanks off his name tag so hew cannot be identified. We found "foreign" objects in our burger and questioned the tall young black man about it, and he refused to give us his name! He said it was no sweat, and wouldn't hurt him if we reported it to their corporate office!
DO NOT EAT THERE!!! What ever it was in the burgers looked like flem some one had coughed up!!!!! WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alert | Obviously this is a Sonic that is an individualized owned one. If they were owned by corporate I cannot believe that they would not have had surprise inspections and would have caught a lot of this stuff. But even if it is not owned by Sonic they still represent the company and complaints to corporate would be investigated. I have only gone to the drive thru a couple of times for a Sonic blast and they took forever to make it. After hearing the above complaints (some downright disgusting) I will not go there again. I wonder how they do on the state inspections for cleanliness and other food operating proceedures?

Alert | I went to Sonic a few nights ago for dinner. I was looking at the menu board when a Sonic worker ( I won't describe him for fearing of being called a racist) was outside with a clipboard waving my forward. I tried waving him off as I looked over the menu. He then started yelling for me to move forward. I gave in and drove up to him and he informed me that the speaker wasn't working and that he would take my order. I let him know that I didn't know what I wanted as I didn't have enough time to look over the whole menu, because he was insisting I pull forward. Needless to say by then, there was already a few cars behind me. He got upset that I didn't know what I wanted and walked off and took the next car's order. I went to Carl's Jr.
