Personally I like Arena, but my husband ate dinner there on Dec. 15th and got very sick. He says he'll never go back. Could have been a coincidence and not the food, but he doesn't want to take any chances.

Went to the Arena last weekend (1/12) - first time out in my new home town of Maricopa. The evening was going well in the begining, but didn't end so well. Not happy with the service. Just because your not a regular - you get bad service? or NO service? Well, lost a customer here unless things change. I think I'll hold out for Teakwoods! And if anyone else has a recommendation, I'd appreciate it!

I give ARENA 3 stars. It's the place we usually go if we decide to stay in town. Their PHILLY Cheese steak is the best I've found in the Valley, even a little better than the new gourmet Cheese steak place on Priest @ Warner (I welcome suggestions). Have had the occasional long wait for our food, but most of the time service is good and the manager always asks how we're doing. Seems like the place is a little quieter with the addition of the extra booths and dividing walls.

Thanks ARENA.

Okay, I've never had a problem with Arena. My kids love that place and we've always had pretty good service and we like the food. Until a couple of weeks ago that is. The service was terrible. It was a Saturday night and they weren't super busy, just the same as always. I think our waitress was fairly new though. We got there around 6pm and my kids were already super hungry. We ordered our food and an appetizer even. We waited and nothing came out. After about 30min, we flagged our waitress down and asked her where our appetizer was. She went to check on it and came back and said that she forgot to put the order in! What? She went ahead and did it then, but that meant we had to continue waiting. At this point the people next to us who got there AFTER we did had just had their food brought out to them. I was mad at this point. Finally we got our appetizer but then it took another 20min to get our food. My poor kids were so hungry! I spoke to a manager in front of the waitress and let them both know I was furious! I told them I wanted something free for this cause we had waited an hour before we got our food! One hour! That's crazy! After that the waitress got an attitude with us. I think she knew her tip was out the window so she didn't even bother to check on us for refills. We told her we wanted the Cookie monster for dessert and to go ahead and put that in the oven for us. We were done with our food and we were waiting on it to be done now. Finally we flagged her down and asked her if it was done and she said it didn't get put in yet. Of course not! I should have known! So the manager came back by and we told her she needed to comp us something. So she gave us a free dessert, free appetizer and she deducted 50% off our bill. No tip was left of course and the total time spent in there was about 2 hours! We will go back but that girl won't be our waitress again. They rectified it by giving us discounts, but I was not happy still. Several people that came in after us, got their food, ate and left before we were done. That was the most annoying of all.

"Oh dear heavenly father, I pray to you and your son Jesus Christ.... PLEASE LET THIS STUPID THREAD DIE!"

THAT IS ALL!

Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem.

I tip for SERVICE.

NO service = NO tip

Tipping is NOT mandatory.

If I get great service they get 33%, good service 20%, fair service 15% and BAD service gets NOTHING.

That really sucks that you had a bad experience. When I first started working at my old job, I forgot to put in a few orders, and I felt sooo bad. I would never get an attitude if someone was mad over that, cuz I know when I'm starving I'm not as forgiving as usual, lol. However, when this happened, we usually comped some of the food without being asked, and I still got a tip, surprisingly. People do make mistakes, esp. when they're new. I usually feel sorry for servers or really anyone when they mess up on their first day, so I tip them more than usual (unless of course they're rude). Anyway, hopefully that girl learns fast to freakin put in orders; it's pretty much the main component of her job! lol.

Excuse me? I'm just sharing my experience with everyone. I wasn't happy that I had to be there for 2 hours, but I was super happy that I got some food comped and a discount on my bill. That was the least they could do. That made up for being there for so long. I said that we would go back too, sheesh! She was headed for getting a 15% tip once we got our appetizer, but the minute she gave me attitude about HER mistake, it went out the window. I tip 25% for great service, 20% for good service and 15% for fair service. NO service and BAD service get zero from me. That doesn't happen often, cause I normally get decent service everywhere I go. Why should I tip someone who doesn't do their job even halfway? That's just sending a message that she did nothing wrong, and to please do the same thing to someone else. She's not learning from her mistakes if I tip her now is she?

The manager said that she had been working there for a couple of weeks. She wasn't brand new. Seems like she would have known what to do after 2 weeks. I completely agree that she better learn fast to put orders in. I don't feel sorry for her either. Other people all around me were getting their food fast. I'm sure she got plenty of tips that night.

ilikeketchup, go crawl back under your rock and stop being a (insert word here). I'm sure there have been times when you haven't been the best tipper either!

Sinbad, chill out and don't get your panties in a wad. There are more important things in life to pray for then this thread. If you don't want to read it anymore, then don't! Sheesh people!

I just love the spider webs all over the duct work ready to fall in your food plus so much dirt in there that it tripped the smoke detectors. Emm can't wait to go back. LOL NOT!!!!
