i hate the local grocery stores, they are always crowded, understaffed and over priced.

i typically shop at walmart for packaged goods and sprouts for meat and produce. my typical weeks worth of groceries is about $100. i tried to run my typical run of groceries at the local store and my bill was $200+. the only thing i buy locally is ice cream.

produce and meat from walmart suck, thats for sure. so keep that in mind when it does finally open down here. but their packaged goods are certainly cheaper, by far.

Complain to Fry's Corporate offices via frysfood.com or call the corporate offices. If enough people do that, they will fix it.

They are who we thought they were!

Honestly I never paid that much attention to the meat at Frys. I did look at the clearance meat and it looked like it had been sitting their for days.

The main complaint I have with them is the produce. Every single time I go thier they have rotten fruits! The strawberries, grapes etc are always molded! If I see them I pull them and give them to the produce guy, manager, or on the top wooden part. It makes my stomach turn seeing that. Oh and the produce guy was giving me dirty looks for handing them to him.

Then I figure well the ones I see that don't have it; is it possible that they were touching the mold ones and now they have it? Or are they gonna start sprouting tomorrow? I only buy from the co-op now. Yeah!!!

It's always too growded... But I hate Basha's set up

Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem.

I agree with you about the strawberries. I love them and hardly buy them because of that.

I have complained to the local manager ...and all the way up the ladder....
Unfortunately, I don't expect much change or improvement until more competition comes to town...

miller time, I handed the head butcher a package of ground pork once and asked him why would you mark this down (discounted) and put it BACK in the case?
He looked at puzzled...I said some inexperienced cook may not KNOW that ground pork is suppose to be...
PINK...NOT BROWN...he took it from me, mumbled something under his breath..walked in the back and most likely was happy when I moved on......I can only speculate what he did next...

Anyone remember the big expose on several markets washing rancid meat in bleach.....and selling it??

Chicken.....think twice about that FRIED chicken they sell.....hymmm?..didn't someone post about bringing home smelly
raw chicken.....when food is on it's way out or worse..many food services will just cook it up...just food for thought...

I wonder how often they change out that marinating glop in the butcher case? It's just crying out "bacteria feeding ground"! They should have bottles of Pepto and Imodium on top of the case..this way your covered..

I warned you guys I could go on and on about this...but lucky for you I gotta go to work!

ANYONE HOME?

I've never really paid attention to the meat, but i will for sure inspect it now. We eat meat every night. I buy the 10 pound meat roll for 10 bucks at Wal-Mart. I will also buy some steak for burritos. So i will really be watching my meat selections now.

I don't remember the bleach one, but i do remember the one about meat being returned to the store. That they would restock returned meat. Blech!!

I prefer to shop at walmart for the dry goods but I wont go there for meats, I am super picky with them so i shop around and alot of times out of town. I did some comparison shopping a bit back with the stores here, I pretty much buy the same things on a weekly basis. what runs me almost 200 bucks here in town at either store, I can get away with for 100-125 out of town. its sad but true (as i would like to support the local stores but with that much of a difference i cant beat it)

I agree, it is often very crowded. But other than that I have no idea what you guys are talking about! I love shopping at Fry's! All the food I have bought there is good. Their bakery rocks! I eat at least one French Silk Pie a week! The help has always been nice to me. Last fall I bought a wide screen tv there on sale. I had some trouble with the tv a couple months later. I called Fry's and told them I lost the receipt. They told me no problem ,bring it in for a refund or get another tv! And this is on a "big ticket" item. I was pretty impressed with that!
