Alert | I am actually at a loss for words...how can anyone compare any kind of 'tagging' with art....??? If you are an artist, then get some canvas and paint and have yourself a blast! If you want to express yourself, then maybe.....a...enter your work in an art show or something, BIG DUH!!!! If you want to paint a murial, than go ahead, paint away, (on your own walls) Maybe advertise and like have a business or something and maybe someone will pay you to paint a murial for them. Wow what an unusual concept, study art, paint on canvas, start a business, sell to others...gee what was I thinking....!
I guess I'm not really at a loss for words. | |

Actually, Demonica, I get your point.
Understand also that if you graffiti your own property and it becomes an eyesore, it is still a problem.
Graffiti attracts more graffiti. That is a proven fact. (LAPD CRASH have much info on this with both gang related and non gang related stats)
There was an interesting argument in the 60's regarding both sides of this issue. The art was done to help cover up the ugly graffiti (tagging, before it had a name).

I was referring to the comment previously made about how kids just need someplace to express themselves, and that skateboarders wouldn't deface public property if they had somewhere to skate. I think the imbeciles are the parents who believe their kids need to 'express' themselves, and that we all have to provide this for them.
I'm sorry if your IQ dropped from that. You should find a better way, then, to spend your free time, because this forum will then make you pretty dumb. | |

Alert | Some graffiti can be quite beautiful if the person has the talent and yes I do say talent because not just anyone can pull off some of the work that is out there. The majority out there is just an eye sore but some of it you can't help but appreciate the art in it.
I don't agree with defacing property though..... I think, it's more of a rush than anything.If I remember correctly....the bolder the place, the most exposure, the better it was considered.

So now DOG FIGHTING is comparable to Skateboarding.. put down the crack pipe and go back to dirty jersey.
