My question is this.....
Ramsey....are your employees going to get paid what is owed them??? My daughter has a difficult time understanding that she may have been working for free!

If, in fact, a bankruptcy has been filed, it's not up to Ramsey to decide who gets paid. By federal law, it's up to the trustee of the bankruptcy court. There will be a number of people who are owed money, including creditors, landlords, suppliers, investors, etc. Usually, employees are the first in line to receive money from the proceeds of the bankrupt corporation.

Actually, from what I understand, the employees are usually last in line. Of course, I don't know where I heard that.

Employees are in the same catagory as unsecured creditors. They get paid after the secured creditors - if there is any money left that is.

He is delinquent on his Annual Report with the Corporation Commission. I think it was due last May. I don't see that he has filed bankruptcy yet.

I stand corrected. I think what I have seen is that the Trustee allowed the bankrupt corporation to make payroll while in Chapter 11. Anyway, it's not like the guy is purposely trying to hurt anyone. From what I know of Ramsey, he would make it right if there was a way for him to do so.

i understand that ramsey is having a hrad time financially, but because of that so, now are a lot of his employees. these people worked hard and it is not fair that they worked so hard for free. it is not such a big deal for the servers, in that their paychecks are usually small anyway, because of the low hourly rate plus the fact that taxes on their tips are taken out of their hourly paycheck. it is ramsey's cooks that i really feel for, they worked 3 weeks and haven't gotten paid a dime for it. that is just wrong! i understand and applaud people supporting ramsey and community business, but i just can't help remembering back a month or so ago when one of ramsey's employess posted on here that her check had bounced and MANY forum members jumped down her throat for her posting, hmmmmm!

Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem.

i agree. the resturant isn't coming back, people are going to get screwed (unfortunatly), and others are going to have to find somewhere else to hang out. Let's move on

I agree too. It's a crappy situation for all involved. Ramsey included. We need to let it go already.

I have a Gift Card with a $25 balance, if someone would like a memento from Ramsey's.

Locks on doors do not simply get changed overnight without any notification. There are real estate laws that prevent that - an owner of a building, just like an owner of a house, has to give the renter at least a certain amount of notice first. With loosing $10K/month, spending money that wasn't there on a remodel and still continuing to lose $10K per month, not renewing the liquor license, and being delinquent in filing the Annual Report, there is no way this could have been a complete surprise. He may not have known which day the place was going to be closed down, but I don't see how he could have not known that it was coming, and coming soon. I'm not sure if AZ real estate law requires notification of the date of a lockout, but my guess would be that it does. Anyone know the real estate law on this?

Ramsey may have done a lot for this community and hopefully he will find a way to continue that, but Ramsey's, the restaurant, is not coming back. It's sad for his employees that may never get paid what they are owed.

heuertwo, save that card. If the new Library creates a "history room" donate it to them. In 20 or 40 years, old timers will look at your $25 gift card and say, "That Ramsey's was a hopping, nifty, dandy, groovy place years ago." :-)

You know...

I like Ramsey's quite a bit.. But it really bother me that IF Ramsey foresaw an impending close and bankruptcy... why would he continue to have his employees work there knowing they would be the ones who end up screwed? That bothers me as person.. Let's see.. I'm looking at bankruptcy.. looking at losing my business.. but I still want people to come work for me so I can make every penny I can before doing so... all without paying the employees?

It may not be legal and all.. but dammit, Ramsey, you need to come clean with your former employees.. they worked hard to make YOU a buck.. if that means selling the Hummer, YOU eating Ramen, taking a 2nd or 3rd on the house, etc.. then do it.. but I cannot respect you as a man or otherwise unless you come clean with the BACKBONE of your establishment.. You need to sac-up and pay-up to your employees or you will forever be yellow in my eyes..

Don't get me wrong.. I have supported Ramsey's since day 1.. I STILL love the food I got there.. and I loved the atmosphere.. Ramsey has made his mark forever in Maricopa history.. but that legacy needs to continue throughout this rough patch...
