not saying they shouldn't have to have a license. maybe they did, I didn't ask them (probable should have). Just tried it out once because it wasn't that unusual to me.

My ex's family is from Mexico. They would make food and re-use the oil on the stove. They would cook, let the oil cool, the next day they would cook in it. Some people are immune to this. Some people are immune to meat being out for a little bit. None of them would ever get sick, but I couldn't eat the food, I would always get sick.

There are reasons why you need a license in this country. Not all of us have the same tolerance so everything needs to be kept at a safe level for all.

A week ago today I spoke with these folks about the lack of a buisness license and they were in violation of selling their goods on a right-of-way. I believe they have complied with the warning. Have they set up shop somewhere else that I'm not aware of?

Brian,
Thanks for your comment. I have a question, will Romy's be cleared to open soon? and what is the difference between them and the food wagon parked on 347, near the check cashing place?

pkat,

I was under the impression that Mr. Flowers (Romy's Ribs)re-open last weekend, but then again I was out of town and did not notice. Because Mr. Flowers was granted a Temporary Use Permit he had to go through a 10 day public posting and that is what caused the short shut down, and there were some stipulation that had to be addressed. From what I have heard everything is in order and he is ready to go. In fact, I believe he had his Grand Opening last weekend. I saw where he had received a permit for the 24th thru the 26th for a Grand Opening sign permit.

Because Mr. Flowers is only operating under a TUP he is only able to be open for business on weekends and service the clients at the Stage Stop Marketplace (that does not prevent the sale to customers that drive to his location for take out). He is part of the Farmers Market that is scheduled to operate at this site. You could say he is the first of many that will be operating/selling at the Farmers Market. So he is limited in his hours of operation (weekends only) and the use of signage. He can operate under the TUP for one year and then there will be a review and he can at that time also request an extension.

Mr. Flowers is experimenting with his business to see if it is a product that folks here in Maricopa want and if things work out in developing a cliental he may look for a perminent site. I believe Mr. Flowers is fine with weekends right now, since his wife keeps him busy the remaining days of the week.

The Flowers are great folks that reside and have a business in our community. They deserve our support, as do all our businesses in Maricopa.

Thanks, I will have the Sheriff's Dept. contact them since they have adjusted their hours of operation to the evening shift.
