I was wondering how you were raised?

I was raised to cook (not that it's the woman's place or anything feminists please don't get offended) but I do most of the cooking except grilling and am meeting more and more girls that can't cook and have no interest in being able to prepare a decent meal.

I am not that old either but is it becoming a "lost art" or what?

Just wondering....

I cook!

I think the woman should do the cooking and cleaning, while the man makes the money.

I CAN cook, but I have no interest. My husband knew this going in. He's an excellent cook, and doesn't mind doing it! I might cook 1-2 nights of the week.

miller time... nevermind, not going to waste my time

I was raised in a home where housework/cooking was the woman's job, however, I came of age during the 70's...women's lib, bra burning etc. My husband who is younger than I am, was born into the 70's and into a family where his mom was a "southern magnolia" (his family's words, not mine) and did no housework at all. His dad and older brother shared the housework between them. So, we came into this relationship with the understanding that there isn't any "women's" work or "man's". We both messed up the house, we both clean. We both enjoy the yard, we both do the yard work, you get the idea. But then, he went to culinary school. . .drum roll please!

He cooks!

I believe in sharing the work, regardless of what it is. My wife is more comfortable in the kitchen than she is changing the oil in the car, so that's where our roles fall. Nevertheless, I can cook just about anything that needs to be put on the table. One of our traditions is big breakfasts on weekends with biscuits from scratch, which I make.

I was raised in a home where housework and cooking are the womans domain. My mother was a full-time SAHM. My father, who is now a widower, cannot make a sandwich by himself.

Stupid should hurt!

I cook. Hubby knows how, but I prefer too. Um, I can't clean to save my life, so I have a wonderful housekeeper. In between her visits, DH and I share the chores. He does the outside stuff, garbage, grilling, car washing.
I was raised by a single dad. My dad had to do it all, so I expect that my DH do his share.

If you can't spot the loser, it might be you

My mother was a single mom with two kids and usually had more than one job to make ends meet. She did the cooking but being a child of the 80's-90's we learned to use the microwave alot. (not saying that all my age did, but it was there during that time) The house was usually messy.

I cook most of the time. I like to try new recipes because I get bored from the same stuff all the time. My husband on the other hand can eat the same thing every day and not care. He likes making big breakfasts and gets creative with lunch from time to time. We share the household chores. We also have the unwritten rule: I cook, you clean up after.

My husband does most of the cooking as I don't really know how to cook. Nothing I cook tastes good and as I don't want to poison my family, I stay away from the kitchen as much as possible.

We both share in cooking but since having the twins my husband cooks about 95% off the time. I try to do the dishes afterwards to help.

My dad worked outside the home and my mother stayed home so she did the cooking. But now they are home without children and my father does most of the cooking.

I cook, and Im damn good if I do say so myself haha.

I grew up watching my Mum always cook, and started cooking dinner for my family when I was like 11-12.

My husband has 4 sisters, and none of them can cook... or if they do they have to be reading a recipe step by step work for word, and won't try anything new. They can't cook to save themselves.. I found it kind of funny because it was always so natural to me. I never use recipes and people get mad at me because they will ask me how I made something.. and I give them this vague description.. or my sister in law will ask how long to cook something.. and Im always "Just cook it until its done" haha

I am the same way... I hardly ever use recipe's and when I do I always alter them to how I thinkis best.

My SIL's can't cook either. Neither of them!
My hubby can only grill. When I met him he was microwaving Rice a Roni!! Poor thing....

My husband.. now he is interesting haha... he can't really cook, but he is creative, I'll give him that... he is not afraid to try something, or make his own concoctions (sp?) LOL... he can cook some things...

I pretty much never use recipes....unless someone requests something ive never made before, I may browse through a recipe to get an idea... but then not use it and just go and do my own thing. I love cooking
