Decided to give Raceway a try for lunch today. Lets just say that was a mistake.

The grill was not even one quarter filled and our waitress completly forgot to submit our order. She noticed this after we had already been there for over a half an hour. Christine said she was sorry and they would put a rush on our order. After another half an hour the food arrived. Nothing too remarkable about their Philly Cheese steak. Then it got even better trying to get the check. After being told she would be right back with the check we waited twenty more minutes watching her flit from table to table taking care of everyone else. Guess she didn't feel like wasting any of her customer service skills on a table who was not in the tipping mood.

Guess I will keep spending my money elsewhwere. I hope the owner gets a handle on his situation. You can only loose so many patrons without loosing the race.

It doesn't matter if you go to ARENA, NATIVE, TEAKWOODS or RACEWAY, there's 2 levels of service that you might receive.

If they know you and you are a regular, then you get the 5 Star service.

If they don't know you, then you get served when they time between their 'regulars'.

I have been in all 4 places and seen this time and time again.  They will PARK at tables they know and talk away while you wait for your order to be taken, someone else runs your food out, wait for drink refills and then wait even longer for the check.

I am used to it and understand its just part of eating out here in the Copa.

I try a place at least 3 times before I make a judgement call...

Most every place I have been to has "one of those" servers.. I'll usually give it 3 good tries before I'll say that I'll never go back..

I'm no "regular" at any of the local places.. but I will say that out of all the places in town I will NEVER visit NNY (one of the top 5 worst places I have ever been in my life), Dairy Queen or Fat Daddy's...

Other than that, I'm ok with every other place... I haven't tried Raceway's, but I will eventually..

Our preferences:

Arena- will never return- awful food, awful service, awful management

Sunrise- Love it, love it, love it- food is always good, service is always better than average, and you can't ask anyone to work harder than the owner.  She's amazing.

Native New Yorker- very reliable- never had bad food or service there.  We probably go here more often than anywhere else in town (except for breakfast).

Brooklyn- depends- the food is always good but the service isn't always fantastic.  It's a good safe bet.

Teakwoods- we like it- the food is good, and we have never had a problem with service.

Baskin Robbins- service is a professional as you expect teenagers without supervision to be!  If you go any night but Tuesday you are crazy.

We haven't tried Raceway, but we will.  We don't eat fast food so I can't tell anyone what they are like.  We aren't regulars at any of the places, so we don't get that "special" treatment.  We only go out when we aren't in a hurry and we enjoy ourselves.

I don't really see what's wrong with Arena...and I especially don't see how NNY is any better. None of the restaurants out here seem very spectacular, but I've been to worse. We are sort of a captive audience; I just can't wait to get some more options our here.

Our experiences at Arena were both horrible. The food was disgusting, and service was non-existent, and the manager was too busy visiting with friends at the bar to care. Every time we have been to Native we have had friendly waitstaff, good food, and rarely are we not approached by a manager to see how everything is. We are greeted pleasantly when we walk in, and thanked when we leave.

Arena is the worst in town.  When I complained about waiting 45min for a Philly, the manager told me 'they are busy'.  I told her that she needed more cooks or less tables becasue 45min is unacceptable.  She walked away with not so much as an "I am sorry".

Sadly I have seen the same said about every restaurant here. Similar things have been said about teakwoods, though everyone said that would not occur. Well it has. I have had decent service at all 3 restaurants so far, nothing special. Same with food. Then again, maybe I am just sick of eating out so I rarely do anymore. Like other people said, you have to be a regular anywhere to get good service, and I am not about to frequent these places everyday just to get that.

Sunrise for breakfast and Teakwoods for all other food. Other than those 2 places, I'm headed to Chandler.

I agree with you about Raceway. Candy is the only good server there. I've been there plenty of times and at all times of the day. If you're in there a lot and spend lots of money you'll get good service. The food just isn't good enough for me to spend that much money.

They put up a bunch of ugly boxes and JESUS people bought em!
