Alert | (Note: I apologize for the typo in the subject line...should be "Revealed".) I hope this review/announcement doesn’t get bumped by 85239.com (I read that some do). If it does I hope the moderator will please inform me of why so I may edit and re-post. Okay, here it goes and I am not affiliated with Raceway Bar and Grill. Well, honesty I am in as much as I will no longer allow my friends or myself to frequent other bars in Maricopa due to this wonderful place. The information below is my observation and no one else’s. I am considering having a Raceway Bar and Grill tattoo inked upon my liver, but I digress… Bottom Line: Raceway Bar and Grill is located at 49237 West Papago Road in Maricopa and the Grand Opening is this Saturday, March 15, 2008! Rand and Jeanna Del Cotto are the proprietors and they have created a fabulous eating/drinking establishment with all the fixings. Raceway Bar and Grill holds a full bar, a large selection of beer from around the world, family seating (if you so desire) and hand-made meals that are thoughtfully produced. Be forewarned: if you come for a visit you may not have it in your heart to pay more and get less with contemporary selections available to us in Maricopa. Extended Review: While at the Mutt March 2008 I had the pleasure of making Rand and Jeanna Del Cotto’s acquaintance (the Cotto’s restaurant, Raceway Bar and Grill provided the yummy breakfast burritos at the march). I inquired about their establishment and it didn’t take them long to intrigue me. Not only do these entrepreneurs work at their restaurant, they cook, manage, erected the building and for that matter they also built the strip mall! At this point I realized the Cotto’s had an “uber-vested” interest in the businesses’ success. I asked why they wanted to open such a business. Jeanne said, “We love people and we love to cook”. So, their motivations for success are customer satisfaction and quality edibles? Oh yes, a huge library of beers from Budweiser to Boddingtons is also installed. I’m sold. “Hey, we’re going to Raceways”! My wife, friends and I head toward the restaurant. Once there I’m pleased to see a covered patio, furniture, a long bar, fire pit and pool tables. The indoors are just as kind on the eyes. Family, dinner seating is to the right and a full, room-length bar is to the left. The ambient music from the on-line jukebox is at pleasant levels and the speakers are solid. I manage to briefly loose myself in the deep-cooler filled with a cornucopia of libations that sits within my gaze. We decided to take our stay on the patio. Like clockwork, we were asked for our drink order and handed menus after a pleasant introduction to the restaurant by our attentive sever. We ordered breakfast and lunch items. All of us were amazed at the quality/quantity of the meals. The calamari was crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. The biscuits were fresh and the gravy hand made with spicy sausage. One of their specialties is the Jalapeño Poppers. They are roasted, not fried and have shrimp with cream cheese inside a large Jalapeño wrapped in a wide-strip of bacon. The beers were served in ice cold mugs and the shots of tequila free-pored. The pricing is utterly fair if not downright cheap. Draft beer beats the price of the cheapest happy-hour pricing at other places all of the time. I have paid nearly as much for chips and salsa at other venues in Maricopa than what I paid for a full on meal at Raceway Bar and Grill. Not to mention, the more expensive food at other palaces can’t hold a candle to Jeanna’s Meatball Sandwich (with steak fries, of course). To slam dunk my point that Raceway Bar and Grill Is awesome I want to state that these guys had a “soft opening” for close to a month. They didn’t advertise, etc. because they wanted to “get the kinks out” prior to bringing on a larger audience. How cool is that? Raceway Bar and Grill decided to open gracefully instead of hurriedly bringing on the crowd and using the customer as the guinea pig…amazing. Again, we are impressed. There are other enchantments I have not mentioned here due to time constraints (I have to get back to Raceway Bar and Grill for dinner). Raceway Bar and Grill is located at 49237 West Papago Road in Maricopa (to the back of the mall) and the Grand Opening is this Saturday, March 15, 2008! My wife, pals and I will be there. We hope you will be there too. See ya!

Alert | I agree with starkitty. My DH and I recently went to Raceway and were very surprised by the service and quality of the food. It was excellent and the environment was really laid back. We will definitely be going back.
If your'e tired of the mediocre food quality and service of other restaurants in Maricopa you should definitely check this place out. And even if you're not - check it out anyway and remember what you're missing.
Hope to see you there on Saturday, starkitty! | | The best present ever! A day at the Phoenix Zoo as a Zookeeper. Feeding the giraffs was one of the most exciting parts of the day.
