Hello all, I am posting this to find information and to determine if others here in Rancho have had problems with their Chaz Roberts air conditioning systems.

I purchased a DR Horton home here in 2004 and have had the unit repaired three times, once for the power cord arching and burning off the ground plug because whomever installed the unit failed to insure the plug was completely seated, this eventually caused the plug to work its way loose, arching and burning off the ground plug.

The next issue was with a capacitor going out, and the third repair was for a leaking coil on the outside unit requiring the coil to be replaced. These three repairs (within a three year span) all totaled $720.

I have owned two homes prior to this one and never had a single issue with the air conditioning system on those homes in the 5 years I owned them. I have spoken to several neighbors and others that have also had problems with their Chaz Roberts air conditioning systems here in Rancho, including some of the problems I describe above, problems that normally don't occur within 3 years of the units being new. In fact its been my experience that most units on new homes normally go 10 years without any major repair issues, however with these Chaz Roberts units here in Rancho there seems to be an abnormally high rate of problems.

I have several questions I would like feedback on from forum posters; first have others on this forum had problems with their Chaz Roberts air conditioning systems, do you believe my issues are an isolated incident or is there a larger problem here, and if so is there any effort underway to get redress from Chaz Roberts, e.g., class action suit, etc.

Thanks in advance to all those in the forum for any information and guidance you provide.

When we were in the process of purchasing our home, the engineer doing the inspection discovered that the wiring was crossed (we have a split floor plan and 2 units). We made sure that the problem was fixed before we closed- the electric bills are high enough out here!

I think it's really great that when it breaks in 115 degree weather, they can't schedule you for 6 days! The thing is under warranty so you can call the company that made the unit and ask them for other a/c repair companies that are certified to do warranty work. I found someone to come out the same night - and I discovered the problem at 6:30 pm!
The unit was brand new in early 2005 and has already had 2 parts go out...
