Alert | | I was sitting in my unfurnished living room and heard a cricket louder then usual. Then I see an antenna sticking out of a false plate so I tell my husband to open it, there is a family living in there! I'm getting chills just typing this. I'm so sick of bugs! Is this normal? My house is a pretty clean place all these bugs make me want to disinfect! So I sprayed them with bug spray while my husband swatted them and then I vacuumed them up <img src='http://www.85239.com/desktopmodules/ntforums/images/emoticons/sick.gif' height='20' width='20' border='0' title='Sick' align='absmiddle'> | | I'm free from all prejudice, I hate everyone equally!

Alert | You mean like a face plate on the wall? I would call an exterminator. If you need any help with that decision, google the things that eat crickets. Make sure that nobody is between you and the phone when you do that.

Alert | Did you forget how to spell s-c-o-r-p-i-o-n DD??
I think most of us (I do) use an exterminator out here, there are lost of nasty crawly things all over.
I have Arizona's Best come out ever other month to spray and rarely see a crawly thing that's not dead or dieing. | | The red head is BACK!! (and still mouthy)

Alert | I don't mind the bugs, but I have had enough with the spiders. The wolf spiders are out of control. The other night after walking my neighbor's dog, I cam home but couldn't get past the driveway because of a HUGE wolf spider eating a cricket. I called my husband to come out front and kill it for me. We sat there and argued over it even being a spider. He thought it was a cricket. Well it was a cricket being eaten by the wolf spider. I hate the fact that I have to depend on my husband or kids to smash the spiders. I can't bring myself to do it! I will be freaked out for the rest of the night if I actually had to do it myself.
My cat had one in his mouth the other night. He had caught it the moment it snuck in when I came in the door. He wouldn't let me get it from him. He kept dropping it and I was screaming for my husband to come kill the spider while I grabbed the cat. Usually, I will let him eat the crickets, but not a wolf spider. It is just gross!
Last night while also walking the dog, I came across this huge beetle about 3-4 inches long. Huge antennas that was just absolutely freaky. The size of him was amazing! I found him to be more interesting than scary. I can deal with bugs....just not SPIDERS!

Alert | | i hear ya on spiders, TC, when we lived up north my friends dubbed me "spider killer" i have 4 brown recluses and 3 black widows notched into my belt. i get very creative about killing them too. once, when i lived in dallas, i couldn't find any bug spray in the house. matter of fact, we seemed to be out of all aerosol products except a can of sliver spray paint i found under the kitchen sick. so, yup, i painted a spider to death. actually looked really cool, cuz the paint adhered to the web as well, left it there for like a week!

Alert | | I meant face plate, but there is nothing behind it couldn't think of the word. We or at least I thought I could handle the bugs but when I go running through the house screaming I think it upsets my husband. I was avoiding calling an exterminator because it is another expense we were not ready for. Thanks for responding! | | I'm free from all prejudice, I hate everyone equally!

Alert | We didn't have an exterminator until moving to Arizona either. I think it is just one of those services that are almost a necessity. In cold climates it's a snow blower, de-icer and salt in Arizona it's pest control and a pool.
I just moved into our new house and have been waiting for our pest control service to come out. I hate any kind of bug. I'll kill it I just hate them.

I think I saw the same thing. I fished it out of the pool skimmer on Saturday. Biggest damn beetle I've seen, it went about 4".
I think it was one of these: http://phoenix.about.com/library/blpaloverdebug.htm

Alert | I don’t like bugs.
We have a R & R pest control and spray our entire property once a month (out buildings and everything)!
That is one cost I am not willing to take out of the budget.
