Can anyone let me know what is a fair price to pay for getting the winter grass seeded?

•Wait until the night temperatures fall regularly in the low 60's
•Cut your existing grass as short as possible
•Go to ACE hardware and buy a whirlygig seed caster and the proper amount of seed
•Use the aforementioned items and seed over your old lawn just before sunset (keeps birds away)
•Set your sprinklers to come on for 6-8 minutes three times a day (8 am, 12 noon, 4 pm)
•When sprouts are one inch tall, reduce watering to twice a day; once per day in a few weeks
•Mid November cut water to twice a week.
•Caution do not mow the young blades to soon. Give them time to get strong (3-4 inches tall)

I just started the process today on my front yard, and cut it down pretty low. I'll continue to water to keep the ground conditioned.

If anyone is interested in renting a dethatcher from ace for a day, please let me know and I'll split it with you. Possibly get a couple of people that want to do their yard and split cost??

I don't have a truck, but can help with anything else along the way.

I plan on throwing seed out around the 15th or so of Oct.

Winter grass always looks awesome!

Didn't give you a price..

But I will try to remember from last year.

I think if you cut your grass short, and just lay the seed down, I believe the bag was like $5 and I needed 3. I also put down 15 bags of multch over it... which i am not sure I didn't need. No where else have I seen them lay winter grass down do that.. BUT!! I did have the best green grass I had ever seen..

This year.. I am buying just the grass. I think in total I have 1780sq ft of grass and it will cost me about $20.
