I'm not sure how to post pics on this web-site - sorry.

We've sprayed these a couple of times with crabgrass spray and haven't had any luck getting rid of it. We are thinking it might be something else, and need to know what it is and how to make it go away!

Any help would be appreciated!

Kami...can't open the pic's.. are they low lying and spread out in a circular pattern? If you can gather all the runners up like hair finding one main root..then it most likely the feared evil "SPURGE".

If this is what you've got then my advise is to pull them out by hand...gather it up to the center..move the rocks away..jiggle it back and forth and pull gently..the entire root should come out.

Now, you'll get lots of suggestions..like spray them with a herbicide (poison) pour vinegar on them...bleach..all these attempts will eventually turn them brown.. but the roots are still alive and will be back before you know it. Now you've got double the mess to clean-up...new weeds growing on top of the crumbled brown mess left from spraying...

Nope that's not it. We do have that, but I already know to pull it out - working on that this morning. No, this is similar looking to quackgrass (found that online) but still different than that. . . If someone could explain how to post pix I could try again.

I know if you copy and paste into the address bar - they will come up. :|

That's not a weed - that's Johnson grass that's gone to seed. Pull it out by hand. That's the only way I know to make it go away. After pulling every clump you see each day for about 2 weeks. - it will be gone until next year.

I'm going to edit my response. It could also be goosegrass. Or quackgrass. Or crabgrass. It looks like all of the above

It is Junglerice. Apparently 3 states have infestations, Arizona, Tenessee, and Hawii. I thought that was interesting.

It is an annual, manacot grass. Still looking to see if there is anything we can do other than pull it out. Haven't found that yet.

The good news is, if it dies this winter like it should, we can put a preemergent down (we have santa ana) If it doesn't, we can see it better to pull it out then too (since our lawn will be dormant)

Of course, what we are hoping is to get it under control before then. I just am not certain that will happen though - it is seeding way faster than we can pull it out!

thanks for the help!

We didn't do the pre-emergent in time and totally regret it. Now I spend Saturday mornings pulling weeds. Next year we'll get it done for sure though.
