I broke it and I cannot get it to stop making that humming noise. I made sure nothing was jammed in there, unplugged, and pushed the little button underneath, and....NADA!

any suggestions?

Are you sure there isn't hair wrapped up in it?

Not unless my cats coughed up a furball in the sink.
I found a pebble in the sink, this happed when I was cleaning out the fish tank, the rock got away. So I found two small rocks, but other than that the blades are moving fine, just the motor is a just humming when I flip the switch. I was hoping to fix it before my honey made me call the plumber.

this stinks!

Turn off the power, try and turn the plate down inside with a broom handle (DON"T PUT HANDS IN)... See if it is moving at all. Maybe you can free it that way a bit then remove said handle and turn on and see what happens. If this does not work, then may have to take it out and take a physical look at it, just sounds jammed up. Could also try one to the Drain'O' type products to see if it helps, I kinda doubt it... Run lots of HOT water also may help. PM me if you need more help.

for future reference, there should be a little "S" shaped allen wrench floating around one of your drawers, and this is the manufacturer version of the broomstick. it goes underneath in the center of the disposal and you can turn it from there. Congrats on your success!
