Hi All,

We're purchasing a new home, with a pool, and we'd like to use an alarm on the sliding glass door. Does anyone have any suggestions on a brand and place to buy?

We were thinking of getting the Poolguard Door alarm. I've searched a lot online and that one pops up the most.

We've also heard about the door auto-closers but kind of like the idea of an alarm better. The Poolguard alarm offers another sensor so you can leave the glass door open and the screen door open.

We'll also need a gate spring and I figure I can just pick that up at the ol' Home Depot/Ace/etc.

Thanks!

Try DCS Pool Barriers. Website is DCSPOOLBARRIERS.COM. They're based out of Phoenix 623.825.7700 Their sliding doors not only have alarms, they self retract. Meaning, you never need to close it by hand. It retracts on it's own. However, opening it is a bit difficult, which is the main purpose for child proofing in the first placel. We have it and it's great.

You can also stop by Shasta to pick up a brochure. Good luck.

Thanks for the link!

One thing we worry about is that it'll be too tough for my wife to open because she's very petite. Also, can you just leave it open so air can get in?

I spoke with the rep at DCS and his says it poses as a liability to do that, which is pretty self explanitory that the whole purpose in having a safety door is for safety. He said, which is something I do for mine, is to use a dowel to keep it propped, and that it does no damage to the safety mechanism. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. One of the reasons we like the alarm is because we can leave the glass open and the screen open and if anyone opens the screen the alarm will still go off. That way we won't have to prop anything open and bypass the security.

We may end up adding the auto-closer at a later time though.
