Alert | | Ive noticed white flies on my lantanas. I thought I read somewhere that the best way to get rid of them is to mix up some water and soap and spray it on the leaves of the plants. Anyone have any suggestions? | | *formerly known as inyrfce2* Senior Member Posts: 797 Joined: Dec 2006 | |

Alert | | they are attracted to the color yellow; chitwoods as some yellow sticky cylinders to attract the whites. they work very well. soap and water are temp solution. | | Some people will do anything to get elected!

Alert | I hate them too.. they like this one plant in my back yard. I use the hose on them and trim the bush down alot to control them.
| | Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem. ______________________________________ *************************************** San Diego Super Chargers! GO!!! Joined old forum March 2006 Post count: 3068 + these | |

Alert | T.G. you remember correctly..I used to wash my Mom's indoor plants ...it was a production..you had to cover the dirt..flip the plant upside down and swish it around in warm soapy water.
OBGII is right yellow attracts them..even some sticky yellow tape will help..
White flies are commonly found on Lantana and Hibiscus..they are related to amphids.. I have found them on many customers plants..and even in masses on lawns...I use a product made by SAFER Brand.. Insect Killing Soap..it is made with seaweed extract and approved by OMRI for Organic gardening...it gets rid of a multitude of pests... It works great...be generous with the first application and keep an eye out for their return.. ....turn the leaf over....that's where they like to hang-out.. Or better yet spray once a week as a prevention..it won't harm your plants and can also be used on indoor plants...Happy Spraying! | | ANYONE HOME?
