Alert | Ok, so I let the dogs out to do their business and decided to sit on the patio. I notice these weird flat things on the ground and at first I thought it was grass (I just mowed yesterday). I get closer and realize they are wings and there are little wormy looking things crawling around. So I did what any good wife would do and yelled for my hubby. <img src='http://www.85239.com/desktopmodules/ntforums/images/emoticons/kiss.gif' height='20' width='20' border='0' title='Kiss' align='absmiddle'>
I looked on the internet and they appear to be termites. They were flying all over and the ones that had lost their wings were crawling around. So I ran to ACE, they close at 8pm fyi, and then to Fry's and grabbed some of the most toxic stuff I could find.
Now what? Do I call the company that did our original termite barrier or do I call someone else? Should I be worried? Will they move on?
Yuck!!!! <img src='http://www.85239.com/desktopmodules/ntforums/images/emoticons/w00t.gif' height='20' width='20' border='0' title='w00t' align='absmiddle'>

Alert | As long as they are not invading your house it should not be a problem and they should move on. Remember, wood is their food, so if you have any untreated lumber lying around get rid of it ASAP.
If you do notice them staying around and they are close to the house act on that immediately and call the company who did the initial treatment. | | Just the good ol' boys, Never meanin' no harm, Beats all you've ever saw, been in trouble with the law since the day they was born.
Straight'nin' the curve, Flat'nin' the hills. Someday the moutain might get 'em, but the law never will.
Makin' their way, The only way they know how, That's just a little bit more than the law will allow.
Just good ol' boys, Wouldn't change if they could, Fightin' the system like a true modern day Robin Hood.

Alert | | This is swarm season so you may notice them outside. In our last house they were always outside the back door. We did have our house retreated then, but I am not sure if this is always necessary.

Alert | Thanks.
We have been very careful about making sure that the plants and new concrete work and everything is just the way we were told to do it by the termite warranty (most stuff is even further away, just to be safe). I found out the company that treated and am going to call them to come look and make sure. All the little critters appear to be gone this morning, but just in case...

Alert | | yuck!! | | Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem. ______________________________________ *************************************** San Diego Super Chargers! GO!!! Joined old forum March 2006 Post count: 3068 + these

Alert | | Examine your foundation. If you see small tubes made of dried mud going from the ground to your house, you have termites.
