My home is in RED and I have lived here for 3.5 years. My house is a DR Horton. About 3 months ago my pilot light on the water heater mysteriously went out. No big deal, we re-lit and were fine for about a week and it went out again. All and all it has gone out 4 times. This last Sunday it went out again, and we have not ben able to re-light it. I called the number posted as the warranty # on the outside of the water heater. An automated answering system comes on prompting me to press 1 if my model number begins with FG. Well mine does begin with FG. Come to find out there is a replacement kit they will send me to replace my thermocoupler a BFG kit they call it. Apparently there is also a lawsuit against whirlpool because some people have paid out of pocket 5-6 times for this thermocoupler replacement. So if you have a whirlpool water heater and the model number begins with FG call and get a replacement BFG kit.
