I have a small lemon tree in my backyard that has a lot of white spiders on it. They like to roll themselves up in the leaves to hide. I am concerned that my tree may be in jeporady as a lot of leaves have fallen off now. How do I get rid of these spiders?

Check out the Maricopa County Extention http://cals.arizona.edu/maricopa/garden/ There is also a U of A agricultural research farm here at the east end of Smith-Enke that should be able to answer your question.

They may be aphids...they leave a web like substance on leaves...the leaves curling could be a result of them feeding....they suck on the leaves. You could try spraying them off with a hose..or make a soap spray...see White flies thread...good luck

those aren't spiders. Likely they are spider mites and a real bad nuisance pest. Could be mealy bugs aphid or whitefly too but I suspect it's soider mites. Them little criters will spread to your house plants via your hands and clothes. Also they are tough to kill. they will defoliate your plant and leave their eggs in the soil at the base of your tree.

Spider mites are usually reddish to brown in color...and they can be destructive.. I have been a victim of their mayhem back east..... The OP stated they are white...so I think the problem is in the aphid class.

They were spiders, they were the size of a dime, (legs included) We sprayed with some stuff that we hooked to the hose with water and they are dead now. I think that they were eating the white fly things.

Hopefully the branches that you lost leaves on will leaf back out...what was the stuff you sprayed?
