I read that you can take a shot daily (preferably w/ honey to kill the taste) to help with cholesterol and appetite. Has anyone tried this? Or use it for other remedies?

Vinegar has no effect on cholesterol. If it did, everyone with high cholesterol would be living on pickles and sauerkraut. It's an old wives tale.

Yes, that's really my name

According to web MD, ACV hasn't been proved nor disproved to help with cholesterol. It has been shown to lower cholesterol in rats, however.  But,it has been shown to help with appetite.Definitely, it has shown to help with obesity anddiabetes. But, these studies have only been done on a very small scale.

Something's that have been believed to help have taking medical science a long time to prove CORRECT.

I wouldn't dismiss it merely as an "old wives tale". Sometimes, they have been right. Sometimes, they haven't.

ona similar note:oatmeal and cinammon have been shown to help with cholesterol.

I'm not a medical expert by any means. But, I eat oatmeal w/cinnamon, bananas or apples. Of Course, I exercise. With that among other dietary means, I lost weight and in turn lowerered blood pressure.

I do have ACV, but haven't stuck with it like I have the other foods.

I have both heard and know of people who use ACV for weight loss and for Gerd or severe heart burn. I also know that cinnamon is very good for insulin function. I have never heard of it for cholesterol. The actual apple has the fiber so I would think that would be better for cholesterol than the vinegar. ( Just a thought)

Cinnamon's effect on lower cholestrol is believed to be due to the body's insulin to regulate fat.
