Alert | | Ok, I am a redhead and I have always had straight hair with a bit of a wave that I cant stand. Its at shouldler length now, maybe a bit longer. I just put it up in a ponytail every day because I dont want to mess with it. When I got married a year ago I had my hair curled and it looked so good. I am now considering getting a perm. Anyone have any info on it? I am kind of nervous about the idea. Its kind of one of those things where you say perm and everyone gasps. Perms are coming back right? Anyways, I would appreciate some feedback. Can anything be done if you absolutely hate it? Will my hair still be soft and manageable? Will your curls maintain by themselves or do you have to style them with hair products? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Also, can anyone recommend someone to do it?

Alert | I'm a redhead (more auburn but still)... with naturally wavy not curly hair. I have only one word to say about perms: POODLE
Find a GOOD stylist that can work with your natural wave and have it cut into layers that you can scrunch with styling product. I think you'll like the effect better. Not all stylists can do that - if you see someone who's hair you like, ask them who does it. When you start hearing the same name again and again - BINGO.

Alert | | Poodle is also what I thought but I was looking it up and it says they can make all different kinds of curls, like loose ones. Well, my hair isnt really wavy enough. Its almost completely straight with just a few waves in the middle. Heck the waves probably arnt even natural, they could be from wearing a ponytail for so many years.

Alert | Okay, I say.... no perm. Don't do it! I understand about the hair, that is straight, but kinda has a wave to it. Mine is that way too. I know it is hard to fix, but I really don't think a perm is the way to go, (I have been trying to convince my older sister of this for years now!)
Go to a good hair stylist, they can do wonders! They really can! I go to Dolce and see Blair! She is soooooo good. Not only was she born to be a hair stylist, but she actually takes a lot of time to teach you about your hair, and show you how to fix it. I have used the products that she recommends, and oh man, what a difference they make. The other nice thing is that she listens to what you concerns are with your hair, and takes into consideration how much you want to fuss with your hair, and your life style. She always finds the best cut!
Just a suggestion.... but good luck with whatever you decide!

Alert | Ok, I say put a lot of moose in and then scrunch, then put a lot of hairspray in and then scruncy. Let it air dry and it should be very cruly by then. If you like the way it looks but don't want to have to put some much product in it all the time then go with a perm. Find a person who you really trust will do a good job, and can give you tips for upkeep. Once you have the perm you will really only need to add a moose to make it kinda cruncy so it won't be frizzy.
Personally I had a very very bad experience with a perm. I decided to get a perm when I was younger and even went to someone who I had been getting my hair done with for quite awhile. Before I had my perm I had really pretty naturally straight blonde hair. Now lets just say my hair is a dark brown and I straighten it every single day. My hair is now naturally really like this confused kinda wavey but curly and really really frizzy. It does look cute though when I scrunch it. JMO though about the styling and perm idea.

Perms are coming back right?quote]
Only if you're 90 and go to the beauty parlor once a week only to come out smelling like Aquanet.
I vote no. Don't do it! The chemicals will damage your hair and the damage will need to grow out.
