Is anyone a member of Curves? What are your thoughts on the program? How does it compare to a regular gym? I have been a member of regular gyms, but considering checking out Curves. Wondered what the opinion is on it? Want to lose 20 lbs.

I have mixed feelings. I was a member back in 2002/2003. I liked the fact that it was only women and it was a good way to get out of the house and be active. However, I never really saw any results or lost any significant weight. I prefer the traditional gym because that's where I notice a significant weight loss for myself. Another thing I did not like about Curves was their hours were VERY limiting, especially if you work. Maybe this has changed now but back when I was a memner the hours were weird...like 6AM - 9AM then closed until 2PM and open again 2PM-7PM or something strange like that. To me it seemed like it was geared more for stay at home moms who had the flexibilty to come late mornings/early afternoons and just wanted to get out of the house and socialize for 30 minutes. For me, I prefer to go to the gym around 4:30 or 5am but maybe they have changed their hours in the last few years.

I joined last year and lost around 12 inches and 16 pounds, however about 3 months ago I started walking everyday and going to regular gym and lost 22 pounds and still going strong.  I cancelled my membership to curves; I got so bored going in circles.

I was a member in Queen Creek where I used to work, and it was $40 a month. Hours vary between places, but they never matched my schedule. I joined a large gym (24 Hour Fitness) near my work and I LOVE IT! It's cheaper, and you can go at your own pace, work on things which you feel need the most attention. (and the hours always work with my schedule - ha). Curves is good, just not for me. Everyone joins a gym to better themselves. I prefer a selection and no particular routine that you are required to do. Good luck!
