Has anyone else had a deviated septum repair? I just had surgery yesterday, and all I want to do is blow my freaking nose!<img src='http://www.85239.com/desktopmodules/ntforums/images/emoticons/crazy.gif' height='20' width='20' border='0' title='Crazy' align='absmiddle'>

I have and it sucks. I 'd rather have the deviation than the surgery.

Why is that? I was not able to breathe out of my nose at all. I am looking forward to being able to breathe in the next couple of weeks. But right now it sucks big time.

Well, mine wasn't that bad. It just felt like I had congestion every once in a while. The part that sucks is what comes out of your nose when it's healing....gross!

Stock up on Nasal Saline Spray, I had a Deviated septum repair,T&A,Uvuloplasty done in June.
Some Docs use packing after surgery for the Septum repair. My ENT used these neat Gel splints.
After the splints were removed it got better. I'm able to breathe much easier.

Thank you Shogun! My ENT used both the packing and the Gel Splints. I am ready to have everything removed. I have definitely changed my mind about EVER having a nose job done!!

It will be so worth it once you fully recover! I know plenty of people who have had it done. I am trying to talk my other half into havng it done, he sounds worse than the 50 trains roaring through the Copa while sleeping! If our windows were open he would have the neighbors' dogs barking! It is really bad, and the major congestion he has from not having a clear nasal passage is unreal. Hope you get to feeling better.

Live every day as if it were your last and smile!

I can't begin to tell you how much better I felt after my septoplasty. I got my packing and splints out the next morning, and to feel oxygen where it had never been before was an amazing feeling!

Take it easy, use LOTS of saline spray, and Drummer is right, when you start healing there will be stuff coming out of your sinuses that you don't want to look at.

What I did was take the 1" gauze pads, fold them in half and tape them under my nose to my cheeks. It caught the runny stuff and I was able to breathe over the top of them. Best of luck, and keep us updated on your recovery!

Spring training is just around the corner!

So far I have not had any funky sinus stuff coming out. I get the splints out this Thursday! I can't wait. All I want to do is blow my nose!
