I am scheduled for an epidural spine injection on Monday between my C-5 and C-6 for a bulged disk. Has anyone had this before? I have a 2mm bulge between my C5 and C6, without cord contact. The problem is that its triggering migraines almost at least 3-4 times a week now.

My friend gets them for his blown out back..... he has never had a problem with it and says it does help. Unfortunately his back is so messed up eventually he will need surgery.

I only had an epidural for labor so I only know about that aspect of it, personally....

Ppppppbbbbbbssssssssssttttttttt!

I've had several injections in my back but they didn't help me at all. Everyone is different though and I know people who have gotten a lot of relief from them. I had back surgery several years ago as that was my last resort. Fortunately, the surgery was a success and I've had limited problems since. I never experienced migraines thankfully. Dealing with back pain AND a migraine sounds horrible. I hope the injections work for you. Let us know how you're doing.

I am a nurse anesthetist and have done several epidural injections. You should be aware that this is only a temporary fix and eventually they may stop working. The steroids that are injected only decrease the inflamation from the bulging disk. I would plan on a surgery within the next two years.

Yikes.

No pain down my arms - It just tingles, meaning there is a pinched nerve. It is a small bulge, only .2cm, so the ortho thinks that by reducing the inflammation thought the injections, and then PT, the disk should move back into place. The biggest issue right now, is that it is triggering migraines, which is impeding the quality of my life.

Had injections, didn't work. Had surgery to remove the bulges, that didn't work either. Finally had the surgery to fuse the c4-c6 together. Best think I ever did! Instant pain relief. This is just my experience. It's been 15 yrs now, no pain down the arm. Sometomes the muscles in my neck get tight, but that is nothing compared to what it was.

I am curious about this. My DH has been tossing the idea around about it. I would like to hear more pros and cons. The PT has me working on him @ home too. I "Floss" his nerve to allow for more range of motion in his leg. I think its the craziest thing to floss a nerve, but it works. His pain radiates through his right leg. His big thing is if he does the epi will he hurt himself more if he cant feel the pain?

I have had a problem with degenerative disc and a mild bulge since April. I have gained a lot of weight because it is causing me pain when I exercise. My doctor just indicated to me I should get a cortisone epidural. I am afraid the streoids will make me gain more weight increasing my problem. My doctors have indicated that surgery is not an option at this point. I would also like to hear from Shermanator.
