Java Lover ~ I didn't think about that with the core and upper body! Good tip! Thanks!
I always start to slump over when I get to about 10 miles.... I need to get to the gym more I guess!

I never check my heart rate either... usually when I feel a little, um lets's say, overwhelmed by my run, I just assume my heart rate is up.
In the beginning, I used to just slow to a walk, (which I still do on long runs), but now I have actually gotten to the point that I just slow my run down a little until my heart rate feel comfortable again. I don't know if it is the right thiing...but it seems to have been working well for me.

Java, didn't you have a marathon that was coming up? Or did you already do it?

It's a 1/2 and in March! I'm going to post about it after the New Year as I'm fundraising for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I start my 'official' training the Friday before Christmas. Now I'm just base building.

I would like to say thank you to all the courteous people we have in Maricopa. I went out for my 7 miles this morning and <b>everyone</b> I encountered in cars stopped and waited for me at intersections ( I tried to hurry across, at the end it was a bit hard to hurry), people also smiled or waved. Thanks guys, that's very encouraging especially at the end when I wanted to curl up on the side of the road.

I've finally done it! (Hopefully... with help from all of YOU!)

Please check out: http://www.mapmyrun.com/community/groups/784413954 and join me tomorrow morning at 10! (Probably only 2-3 miles to start)
