I was just wondering how serious people are about a running club here in Maricopa? It could be as formal or informal as the majority wants. It could just be a list of people with the same interests or it could become an ARRC-esk type of organization. What is it the runners of Maricopa want?

I wouldn't mind informal either. I would want to reach out to all levels of runners so that people can find someone with similar goals and abilities. I think it would be great too, to set up something for Sat or Sun runs and then everyone meet at Kazoos or Sunrise Cafe for breakfast.

Info sharing, contact list, maybe a list of areas around here to run for those not familiar. Mapmyrun.com would be useful.

So far it looks just like it's just us. I have heard that there are a couple of groups out here already, but I don't know them. Any info on that? I'll have to investigate further.

Thanks for replying SuperSK!

I need to run a lot to get in shape to run a little...

Make Sense?

(out of shape.... the only thing I can run to is the bathroom....LOL)

Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem.

Running to the bathroom is a start. Next put on your shoes and run to the end of your driveway and repeat. Then run to the house next door and repeat and a little farther each time. You will be running in now time.

Everyone has to start somewhere.

How about running up and down the stairs at 2:00 am every other night in yout T-shirt and under wear due to a baby waking up and not settling....that should be a start too!!!

Shouldn't it?

Count me in, Java! *smile*

Of course, my vote goes to "informal" too, since my schedule is ever-changing. But if anyone's up for 5 a.m. runs...

I'm in! My husband and I are pretty avid runners... neither one of us is super-fast or anything, but we both love to do it. We've run distances up to Half Marathon and are looking for a running club to join. Saturday mornings are perfect!

Should we maybe (even just those of us who have posted here) meet next weekend to get started? We don't have to be structured just to start... we could even start with a couple miles through one of the subdivisions if we wanted.

Let me know what everyone thinks - I've been looking to do this for some time now, so I'm very serious!!

I think this will be fun... not sure if can do next weekend yet or not.. need to check with hubby.
Even if it is just a few, that would be great. All running levels are good too... my hubby is a little faster than me, and I think he might enjoy running with someone faster than me, if I had someone slower to run with.
And if you run, of course you can meet for breakfast... isn't that the point of a running group? To meet, run and eat....

I too am interested and have been running my long runs on Saturdays of 8-9 miles (about 4-5 miles 3-4 other times throughout the week/20-30 miles/week).

I am interested in hooking up with some folks for the long runs on Saturdays.
Count me in! I'll suggest a time of 5:30 or 6am this coming Saturday---and meeting at Pacana Park---any other suggestions?

I would love to join in on the runners club. Let me know when you all are going to meet. I have been dying to get back into running after my pregnancy. So count me in!

Hi guys! Sorry I haven't been around this week. I have been having internet connectivity issues.

Anyway, looks like there are a few people that would like to meet. Maybe our first meet should be just a get to know you and then we can figure out who, how far, pace, etc. What do you all think?

I was thinking about a separate topic and we post our vitals. For example: average pace, current long run mileage, goals working towards, etc. Any other suggestions?

Yes, I think that would be a great idea, at least to see where everyones running is at. Where and when should we meet? I think we just need to pick a day and time and whomever shows, shows. But at least we can get something going.
