Alert | My nephew is visiting me from michigan this week, he has asthma. He uses an inhaler but today he had a weezing sound in his chest and he has been coughing alot. I took him to the Sun...clinic here in Maricopa today. I think we have it under control but just in case it gets worse during the night where should I take him? I'm not familiar with Casa Grande so I would rather go towards Chandler/Awuth. Thanks for your help.

Alert | The Urgent Care on Chandler Blvd in Ahwatukee is brilliant, their number is (480)961-2300. I have no idea what hours they are open though, so you might want to give them a call and go in sooner rather than later. Good luck I hope that you nephew gets seen quickly | | If you haven't got anything nice to say - don't say anything at all!

Alert | | There are several urgent cares going towards Awatukee/Tempe. One is off of Elliot on left side going towards Wal-Mart. I think it is called A Plus(+) Urgent Care. Chandler Regional also has one off of Chandler Blvd, head west when you exit off of the 10 fwy. It will be on the left side, a couple of blocks down. Good luck. | | "Being defeated is often a temporary condition. Giving up is what makes it permanent." -Marilyn vos Savant

Alert | I'm not sure that there are any 24-hour urgent cares. There are a group of peds doctors that run an after-hours pediatric urgent care center. They are open from 5pm to 5am. The information that I have is for the one on Baseline in Phx, but I think that there is one in Mesa. You could call this one and get additional information.

Alert | Have you considered calling 911? They take breathing problems very seriously - oh gosh! Please let us know what happens! | | If you haven't got anything nice to say - don't say anything at all!

Alert | Casa Grande doesn't have any 24 hour urgent cares. They close at 9pm. The ER is very good at seeing people with asthma attacks ASAP. My daughter has asthma - we were there frequently when she was growing up.
His heart may be racing if he's taken several hits from his inhaler. It's a side effect of albuteral. Does he have a nebulizer and liquid albuteral ampules? If so - what her doc had us do is a double treatment - two back to back. If that didn't make breathing easier - off to the ER for more intensive breathing treatments.
Key thing, don't let it get bad. Seek treatment when it first starts. The racing heart and hand tremors are side effects - that's OK. If you see him retracting - where his ribcage seems to suck in with each breathe or the area by his clavicles sinking in with each breathe - call 911. He's in severe difficulty. Good Luck.

Alert | I HATE taking Albuterol at night. I am up all night and then miss work the next day. I react badly to it, but being able to breath is more important. It's probably worse for a kid. With all the moisture in the air, a lot of us asthmatics are having trouble, to the point of the asthma becoming bronchitis and pneumonia.

Alert | My son is having a rough time with this weather too, I have been dealing with this since he was a baby and know when its time to go to the ER, most of the time I can do what they are going to to at an Urgent care right at my own home, his always seems to turn into pneumonia. Glad to hear he is doing better that is very good news, and piece of mind. Hope you get some sleep tonight | | ~Joined March 2005~
