 Alert | I have been struggling with shoulder blade/neck/headache pain for the past year, and have run the gauntlet of specialists. The neurologist said I have a pinched nerve, and wants me to do PT. Ha! PT on my insurance is $50 a session, and at 3 sessions a week for 6 weeks, I'll be in the poor house. Can't do it, so I'll suffer.
Anyway, it used to only be on my left side, and this morning I woke up with the pain on my right side. GRRRR.
What do you for pinched nerve/shoulder/neck pain?

Alert | | Wow. I have the same thing. Turned out I have 2 herniated disks in cervical spine. Chiropractic care did help but was a temp fix. Im thinking the Chiropracter will do the same as PT which will probably be cheaper. I was givin the option of dealing with it, surgery, or epideral shots by the Doc. Right now Im taking Fioricet or Excedrin Tension. Did you get a MRI? | |

No MRI, yet - can my primary care do that? I do not know where to go. I do NOT want to start this whole process of specialists over.

I have been having this problem forever. This is how I deal with it...take a hot bath with salt crystals(lavender is the best to relax). Relax by reading a good book or relax by listening to soothing music. I lock my bedroom door while Rj keeps the kids downstairs just so I can relax more.
Thats how I deal with my neck, back and shoulder pain. If it get to back then go to Danielle. She is an awesome massage therapist I have ever been too....
Or get your husband to massage your back...lol | |

Alert | | Please, before you go to a Chiropractor try stretching exercises and meditation. Some of the community colleges have Yoga instructors that give stretching/meditation/yoga classes that anyone can sign up for and the cost is minimal. Chiropractors are not doctors, they are manipulating very delicate areas and could possibly do far more harm than good. | | | |

Alert | I've been stretching, and that that stuff, but the pain continues. It comes and goes. I'm afraid it may be more than a pinched nerve, is because sometimes my upper spine is especially sore, and seems swollen.
MOB- is Danielle with the Health Alliance Center with Christine?
I tried acupuncture too, but they triggered 2 migraines. Christina was great, and I loved the first session, but the last 2 triggered migraines. So, that's no good.

Alert | I injured my back and have been stubborn about going to the doc to get it fixed. I have feared that as someone earlier posted, the only options might be deal with it, surgery, or shots. Isn't there anything Non-Intrusive that helps?
I have heard of decompression therapy? Anybody tried it? And if so, did it help?

Alert | This is what I would do...1) go to Pinnacle Physical therapy right behind Walgreens...sometimes co-pays can be matched with the in-network provider cost OR sometimes copays can be negotiated depending on the insurance company but you must fill out a form that states your net income...
2) pinched nerves, herniated disc are mostly caused by postural issues with stresses occuring at different levels of the neck...go see the physical therapist for 1 visit (you do not have to attend all the visits specified)...have him teach you the exercises, postural and body mechanics, as well as order you a home cervical (neck) traction unit to relieve your pain...
pain medication, exercises (stretching and strengthening) should relieve your pain...whatever try to avoid surgery...good luck =) |

The ER doctor did. His regular doc gave him pain meds for what he thought was an on the job injury that wasn't going away.
The body is a funny thing. There could be 150 different causes for a pain in any 1 area.
I hope you are better soon.
