Actually, the individual sanitizer jars have been outlawed by the State Board of Cosmetology. Each salon is required to have a single, large sanitizer bin in the back of the salon that must be cleaned regularly. This is to promote washing of instruments in hot, soapy water before immersion into the sanitizer. Just because you don't see the sanitizer jars, don't assume a salon is unclean.

My mistake!  Did I just give away that I haven't gone into nail salons in a number of years without meaning to?

Thanks for setting me straight.

OMG!!! MillerTime thank goodness they do not do Bikini or Brazillian waxing at that shop! If it came from dirty wax just think they could have exchanged lips for lips if you know what I mean?! YUK!

Cellulitis can also occur if an area is open meaning the skin is broken and dirt or bacteria gets into the open area. My neighbor got stung by a bee and she got cellulitis. MRSA happens the same way. It is aweful that happened to ya but, who's to say some sort of bad bacteria did not enter your open area after the fact and cause it? All it takes is a very minute open area for germs to enter and then it is infected. Everytime I go for a waxing she changes out the tongue depresser's she is using to apply the wax, so there is no double dipping going on. I do watch that.
