I am interested in purchasing Health and Dental Insurance on my own and not through my employer. Does anyone do this and have any suggestions? Thanks.

You can get free quotes from several companies online. I had to pay for my own insurance for a short period of time and it was outrageous! It cost me almost $500 per month for just myself. Your age, number of people being insured and medical condition(s) will determine cost for you though. Also, keep in mind an insurance company you pay privately will probably have a prior condition clause and will not pay anything towards that condition for a certain period of time. That could be anywhere from 6 months to one year. My coverage was with Cigna and I was satisfied with the care I received (just not the price I had to pay). Good luck!

Health Net has some great individual coverage options.

Aetna Dental offers individual and/or family insurance called Aetna Dental Access. It is a discounted insurance policy. The dentist must be contracted with Aetna. The subscriber pays the full discounted fee at the time of service. There are no insurance claims to submit. The cost, I believe is around $99 for the individual and $149 for a family, for one year. Even though you pay the full fee at the time of service, you do save substantially.

If you would like more information, I will gladly offer my services.

I am a contracted provider with Aetna Dental.

If you only need cleanings and not other dental work I wouldn't bother with dental insurance.
