I have always watched the news (usually the 5 or 6pm show). But some days I find it so depressing that I'm sorry that I tried to watch it. But when I don't watch it, I feel like I'm not finding out about what is going on in the world.

what do you do/think?

I don't much anymore. I usually check a major newswire, then azcentral. that ususally catches me up for the day. I did catch a news show I had recorded accidentally once--too many commercials, too many reporters telling you they are going to report on a story later in the newscast!

Cnn headline news every once in a great while is interesting though.

I always TiVo the news and look it over when I can. I am sort of an addict, especially for local news. It just really frustrates me how they cut stories short and then spend the time telling you what they're going to tell you at 10 PM. If it's news, tell me now!

I usually don't watch it because I find it's either full of bad news or it's too much entertainment, not enough real news. Once in a while I tivo BBC news.

As Bertrand Russell once said, "The only thing that will redeem mankind is cooperation." I think we can all appreciate the relevance of that now.

I am an internet only news type of gal. I make the rounds once a day. If I happen to be in my car in the evening on my way in or out of town I will catch CNN or something on Sirius.

I don’t watch the news. Same story over and over piled with a bunch of crap I don’t really care about.

Rarely. 200 word newsbytes interspersed between celebrity sightings, sports and product reviews is not my idea of news. I check several different websites for news, some aggregate news sites and some specialty (technology) news sites.

Even azcentral is getting hard to read. Their "journalistic" quality has gone in the tank. Articles consist of 10 one sentence paragraphs, spelling and grammar errors are the norm and that is when you can find news! Probably 80% of the site is entertainment.

Every night the TV goes to Fox News at 9:00. I listen to it as I'm working around the house, working on the computer or playing on the computer. Use the 10:00 to catch up on the main highlights that I might have missed doing something and not being within ear shot of the TV.

I listen to the morning show on channel 10 when getting ready for work, but most of my info comes from the internet.

Depends on if it is actually news or "news-tainment".

Absolutely. If there was a newscast that focused solely on the happenings/needs/special events of Pinal County, I'd definitely check it out. Of course, that would rely on my silly cable company's willingness to carry the channel...but my hope is that could be arranged.

(Oh, and by the way. Sinbad has probably stopped by, read, and understood this thread...and has nothing to add. vJust thought I'd save him the effort.)

It's tie to Tucson is the "520" area code. Other than that it is really a "Phoenix" area town.

Those of us that have been here a few years, how many times have you heard this? "Oh, I dialed 520 and thought I was calling someone from Tucson!" Or given someone your phone number to have them ask, "is this a Tucson number?".

Or people ask where you live and you tell them Maricopa and they laugh and say "Oh, so you live in North Tucson" ha ha ha...funny...

and the news thing....Naked News does NOT count...cause we know your not really listening to anything they are saying!

I have been out here so long we used to tell people we lived in Maricopa and they would look at you funny and say "county?"... then you would have to explain... its a town in Pinal county with a DQ and a two gas stations...
Then they would say "that’s weird!"

I hated going through all that.
