Is it just me or is the media getting a little carried away with putting so much pressure on famous people to make public apologies to all of us for saying things that are 'offensive'. Why can't famous people state their opinions even if they offend people? Why do people let what famous people say offend them anyway? They are usually even less educated than we are.

Like when Mel Gibson went on his anti-Semitic rant, who really cares? Haven't Jewish people been persecuted for years? I'm sure they've heard all that before so why would you give a second thought to what a drunk says about you? Mel Gibson is not an authority. I'm not trying to excuse what he said I'm just saying that we shouldn't make people apologize for their true feelings. (If those really were his true feelings.)

Also, what Isaiah Washington said about T.R. Knight being gay. Isn't he entitled to be homophobic? Why did he have to make a public apology? Again, I think what he said was lame, but he's an ACTOR! Who cares? If the president said something like that, then yes, I would expect a press conference and an apology.

I guess we can't leave 'Dog' The Bounty Hunter out of this. ARE YOU REALLY BASING YOUR SELF-WORTH OFF OF SOMETHING THAT A GUY LIKE THIS SAYS??? He was having a private conversation and said a word that we don't like to hear. Was that blown a little out of proportion?

Why can't we dismiss namecalling and get on with our lives?

School me please because I just don't get it.
